Description
Burdock brewery set up shop in what used to be an old Portuguese chicken restaurant, and they transformed the space into an artist-driven bar/restaurant/music hall/microbrewery run by a group of musicians and music lovers. They offer a rotating list of clean pale ales, complex saisons, crisp pilsners, zippy sours, and beer-wine hybrids that are all brewed in house.

375ml (thx, Phill S.) @ home on 37th birthday during COVID-19 quarantine. Appearance: a bit hazy purple with a rose head. Aroma: nice American saisonwild notes with berries and barrel notes. Taste: along the same lines with lots of fruits and berries with creamy notes coming from oak, tannins. Overall: good one, a bit too woody maybe, but it's pretty good.

355ml can that pours a lightly hazed, very light golden colour with a fluffy off-white cap that stays a while and leaves foamy lacing. Lemon peel aromas with some notes of grassy hops. After the last pour, gets cloudy with some particles floating across. The head seems more frothy. The taste balances well again the grassiness and lemon notes. Some decent bitterness in the finish. Just missing a little Belgian Ale yeast for a Saison, but as a beer - drinkable.

Clear pale gold with a decent white head. Sour lime and kiwi. Soured tropical notes and a nice clean finish. Nice.

It's a bit of an atrocity that this is my first Burdock beer considering how close I live to their brewpub, and worst it was purchased on the other side of the city at an LCBO. This pour a surprisingly pale yellow, mildly cloudy and head to nuthin but quick. Nose is doughy with bare bit of pine hops. Taste is mild. Some resinious hops, thin dried grass malt, mild bitterness, orange pith finish. This is only meh.

Bottle: Poured a very pale yellow color ale with a large white foamy head with light retention and minimal lacing. Aroma of funky vinous notes with some tart notes. Taste is also a mix of tart notes with some funky grapes notes and light oak notes. Body is light with good carbonation. Enjoyable wine/beer hybrid.

(375ml bottle from the brewery bottleshop) Pours fairly hazy pale gold with a small rapidly dissipating white head and no lace. Aroma of beautifully sweet and fresh honeydew melon, white wine grape, candied lemon, soft pit fruit, nice woody overtones, subtle funk and maybe a little saison yeast. Flavour is rather dry, with light sweet and light tart components, melon more prominent while cold, increasingly vinous while warm. Clear white wine character, candied lemon accents, moderate oak, some nice complex yeast profile, a little sake to it when warm, good acidity through the finish, slightly dusty in the aftertaste, lingering wine and melon hits. Fairly light-bodied, average carbonation. Really beautiful and interesting, perhaps the nicest melon I've had in a beer, good wine/sake vibes here.

Bottle: Poured a light reddish color ale with a large foamy head with OK retention and minimal lacing. Aroma of vinous notes with some tart notes and light fruit is quite enticing. Taste is a nice mix of tart notes with some vinous notes and light fruit and grapes notes with well-balanced acidity is enjoyable. Body is pretty full with good carbonation. Nice wine/beer mix that this brewery is clearly mastering.
