Description
Burdock brewery set up shop in what used to be an old Portuguese chicken restaurant, and they transformed the space into an artist-driven bar/restaurant/music hall/microbrewery run by a group of musicians and music lovers. They offer a rotating list of clean pale ales, complex saisons, crisp pilsners, zippy sours, and beer-wine hybrids that are all brewed in house.

(2018 bottle sample @ Witchstock 2018, Toronto, Sept 29/18) Pours hazy pale pink-peach with a white head. Notes of mixed red berries, dried flowers, lots of rose wine vibes, perhaps strawberry is more prominent, lightly peppery from either yeast or skins, a bit of a cereal saison malt, feel, oak, lightly sweet and moderately tart, funk in the back end too. Medium bodied, soft effervescent carbonation. Another lovely wine-beer hybrid from Burdock, beautiful balance again.

(Bottle sample @ Witchstock 2018, Toronto, Sep 29/18) Pours lightly hazed pale straw gold with a white head. Notes of floral tropical fruit (lychee/passionfruit axis), orange peels, lime, melon, crisp white wine, wet wood, musty cellar, lightly sweet honey, dry and crisp with a little orange wine tannin and zesty acidity. Light to medium bodied with sparkling wine effervescence. This is totally beautiful stuff, a superb melding of Riesling and beer - what a hybrid should be. Wish I could have got a bottle.

Can @ home. Nice fruity taste and sourness. Taste doesn't last long enough and gets a bit iron-y. Other than that: great stuff. Thin body.

Tasting at Erik’s
Cloudy blond colour. Controversial feeling, there is a good funky character, but also poop, in the aroma; the flavour is better, juicy, a bit funky, sweet berries, touch of peach.
Very good.

There's a light tan note. On the aroma, nice brett funkiness, and a big woody barrel note. On the palate, balanced, woody, nice brett character. This has a really refined, delicious character.

375ml bottle. (6.5% ABV) Pours a cloudy pale yellow with a medium, foamy, long lasting, white head that leaves plenty of lace. Funky aroma of leather, Brett, lemon and floral hops. Sweet flavour of grainy malt, Brett, lemon peel, pineapple, black pepper and floral hops in a dry, mild bitter, sour finish. Light to medium body with an oily texture and average carbonation. Nice.
