Description
NorthDown brew award winning beers with a focus on hop forward modern ales, producing a variety of beers spanning cask perfect best bitters, modern hazy pale ales and flavour forward IPAs.

Founded in 2018 by Husband & Wife duo Jonny & Katie Spanjar who were drawn to Margate for its coastal vibes, embracing community and bountiful history. Their hard work truly paid off with recent industry gongs for their two most loved beers - The ‘Taste of Kent Awards’ taking home Best Kent Beer 2020 for ‘Pale Ale Mary’ Pale Ale and winning praise from the cask ale aficionados CAMRA with a medal for ‘Merry Margate’ Golden Session Ale in the Kent CAMRA festival 2019.

330ml bottle from The Offy, Whitstable. Misty blonde appearance, stable white head. Pleasant, moderately sweet lager with a very light sugary touch, a little airy body-wise, lightweight, but generally fine.

Appearance - dark brown and opaque. Thin beige head
Nose - dried fruit and brown sugar. Some earthiness.
Taste - earthy, chocolate and some raisins.
Palate - medium bodied a bit sweet and then a thin finish.
Overall - decent.

Bottle from the Low Cost Beer online shop. Pours clear brown with a thin beige head. Aromas of light red wine a cocoa. Taste is light sour port, earthy malt. Raspberry jam and roast finish.

Cask by stillage at One Inn The Wood, Petts Wood on 10th November 2025. Clear pale gold with almost no foam or lace. Sweet caramel malt aroma. Lemon juice in-mouth and finish. Light bodied with a smooth mouthfeel.
