Can at home, from Bottleneck Broadstairs, 15/12/21. Pitch black with a well presented lasting khaki head that stayed for the entire journey ... a handsome beer. Nose is coffee bean, roast malts, cocoa powder, toffee, light spice. Taste comprises coffee grinds, light spice, roasted bite, ashen tones, chocolate, dark malts. Medium bodied, fine massaging carbonation, semi drying close. A really solid well crafted coffee porter ... appearance and mouthfeel just spot on ... shows you can make a flavoursome porter without being high high boost.

Cask at Smithfield, Derby. Pours a very dark reddish brown with a small cream head and good lacing. A simple aroma of roasted malts. In the mouth the immediate sensation is the smooth and velvety texture. Flavour is dark fruits, particularly plums and cherries with milk chocolate and hints of coffee and liquorice. Alcoholic strength shows through in the finish. Rich and lovely.
