Description
Bexar County Brewery was born out of the need for newer more creative beers to be produced in England. The days of only having a handful of styles of beers to drink are ending, and we are part of that change. A beer revolution is occurring, and I am proud to be on the front lines.
Please have a look around. Here you will find loads of useful information (and plenty of rubbish as well) about the brewery as well as updates on beers being produced and where you may find them.
Cheers!

Bottle from 3at3, Ely. Dark brown, almost opaque. Sizeable tan-grey head. Coffee, chocolate and chilli are present in the aroma alongside cherry, floral and milky tea notes. Interesting. The taste is sweet with a slight chalky bitterness in the finish. The chilli is not present in the initial sip, but there is a massive hot stomach burn in the aftertaste. Worth trying if you can get your hands on it.

Gravity cask at Cambridge Winter Ales Festival 2015. Gold, hazy, unfined. Almost (but not quite) flat. Bread, leather, wood and hints of apple skin in the aroma. Some interesting savoury/woody notes stake their claim among the gentle fruity bittersweet base. Surprisingly bitter/sour finish. Thin body. Very dry bitter aftertaste. This grew on me throughout the pint. Not the best from this brewery but worth a try.

Gravity cask at Cambridge Winter Ales Festival 2015. 7.7%. Light to mid broen, hazy. A small crown of loitering white head. Vinous, yeasty, slightly scented with papaya and apricot. Candy sugar sweet taste with a slight bitter edge; very finely balanced. Nice carbonation for gravity cask but I find the palate slightly too viscous. An intense and enjoyable experience overall. Wholeheartedly recommended.

Gravity cask at Cambridge Winter Ales festival 2015. 4.5% ABV. Dark brown, opaque. Lively little tan head. The bouquet is black cherry, liquorice, espresso, charcoal. Am I just imagining the chilli? Sweet taste. Too sweet really. Malt, liquorice and chocolate hit at the end of the sip. Gentle hot fudge finish. Tasty, certainly not without flaws, but a lot of fun.

Tap. Brewdog, Sheffield. Hazy, dark pink. Thin, lasting, white head. Blackcurrant juice. Very woody. Grassy hop. Peachy hop. A bit vinous. Some alcohol. Taste is fruity sweet, turning vine fruit dry. A little woody bitterness at the end. Full, but fresh palate. Finishes a little boozy. Fruity sweet. Light dry. Utterly delicious, and stupid easy to drink. The Monkey Boys done good (again).

Gravity dispense at Pigs Ear ’14, day 1, 02/12/14. Murky orange amber with a decent off white covering. Nose is soured dark fruit, spice, acidic vibes, glue, tarte cherry skins. Taste comprises sweet’n’sour licks, spice, tangy red berries. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, light booze in a sticky and sweet close. Ok if a little leftfield and unbalanced!

Cask gravity at Pig’s Ear 2014. It pours hazy amber with a small white head. The nose is earthy, ripe berry, spice, doughy, grape must, wood and light fruity tartness. The taste is fruity tartness upfront, doughy, some acidity, blackcurrant skin, berry yoghurt, light spice, booze, grassy, sherbet, white grape and hay with a dry finish. Medium-full body, moderate carbonation and oily mouth-feel. Unusual for sure, but it sort of works. Fun to drink for sure.

Pigs Ear. Cask. Hazy amber beer, no head. Palate is smooth with modest fine carbonation. Very tangy dried fruits. Light smoke. Whisper of something fruity - vegetal. Light finish. Not a big fan of this one and the brewer was honest to admit that he wasn’t either. Cheers Steve, thanks for being straight!

Pigs Ear. Cask. Hazy gold beer, few pale cream colour bubbles. Palate is smooth and semi dry. Light fine carbonation. Smooth and sweetish malts. Tingling alcohol spice. Sweet crystallised orange fruits contrasted by bitterish orange peel. Touch of aniseed. Light dry finish with a bitter citric peel linger. Tasty but spicy.

Cask-conditioned at the Holborn Whippet, 3/11/2014. Near back with a thin, tan, head. Sweetish, chocolate and berry fruits notes, some roasted malts and almost savoury denseness in the finish. Enjoyable.
