Description
Inspired by the Wiltshire landscape surrounding us, we work towards being the most sustainable brewery that we can be. Most importantly, when we began and with the right tools in our hands, we knew that we could create a mighty fine pint. A small team then set about with a vision for handcrafting ales from plough to pint. Using barley from our fields and chalk-filtered water from our own source, we’re bigger and bolder than we were then, but with the same knowledge that nothing quite beats the taste of a decidedly good pint after a long day.

2016 catch up - Bottle at home - A very wheaty beer that tasted like a cranked up version of their Ramsbury Gold. It was nice and I enjoyed drinking it, but not one to have again. The bitterness was very welcome on a hot evening as the wheat made it very thirst quenching.

Cask-conditioned at the Seven Stars, Bristol 4/1/2017. Amber in colour, with a slight, off-white, head. Sweet cereal malts, a touch of hedgerow fruits, leading to a moderately bitter finish. Fine.

Sampled (a couple of times) with my brother in the Marlborough Arms in Marlborough, before an open fire, surrounded by beams and oak panelling. A true winter warmer, with strong malt and a lovely sweetness from the rum. A great mouthfeel and the aclohol adds an extra layer to the flavour.

Handpull cask at the Devonshire Arms, Cambridge. Deep gold, clear and fairly flat with precious little head. Peach and mango aroma with more than a hint of sulphur. Bitter and slightly acidic taste, nicely balanced with the fruit-laden sweetness. Medium to long finish heavy on the astringency. A very English pale ale, well, made but doesn’t break out of the mould enough to be truly amazing.
