Description
Sam and Maudeline Black are a husband and wife team who started their brewing company Blacks Brewery in 2013. This venture/obsession first began many years ago when Maudeline gave Sam a beer making kit for Valentines Day. What started as a hobby quickly developed into an obsession and thus through Sam’s passion and enthusiasm Blacks Brewery became reality. Living the dream since 2013! In 2015 the Distillery was added. We are Ireland's first co-located micro brewery and Distillery.

Bottle at Cotteridge Tasting, Saturday 24th January 2015 Hazy amber with filmy white head. Thick in mouth, a little syrupy but hugely hoppy. Very big beer, nicely balanced but a fiercely hoppy beast. Gives the mouth a great workout. Btw big thanks to Beersiveknown for all of the Irish beers, interestingly I think he helped brew this one, its excellent, give that man a brewing job! Pours a deep black color, topped with a generous dark beige colored head. Initially quite distinct fruity aroma, some citruses, later on caramel aroma develops, also slight roasty notes. Taste starts sweet (slightly), roasty quality to it, finishing with a mild bitterness and some coffee notes in the aftertaste.

Bottle share at Bruce’s pad. Semi opaque dark brown beer, small pale tan head. Palate is light and semi dry. Good fine carbonation. Thin dark malts but they bring a little tangy roast. Robust floral bitterness with an undertone of marmalade. Light finish. Strong bitter linger. Decent.
