Description
Founded in 2016 by James Ward, Lough Gill Brewing Company aims to restore the lost tradition of brewing to Sligo town, a small town that once hosted 5 breweries. Can. A quite dry imperial stout, roasted, lightly warming, with a nice barrel touch. Perhaps a bit boozy although not very warming. A nice first meeting with this brewery. 747415

Black with a beige head. Dark roasted malts, bourbon, chocolate, earth, vanilla. Body is lighter than expected. Finish is hot with bourbon. Similar to others in this “series” the beer does not come together in a seamless fashion but feels compartmentalized and abrupt as we move through it. It’s a nice beer but is missing that refined quality.
