Description
We are Oedipus Brewing. Founded by four friends in Amsterdam, we’re always ready to go where our taste buds take us. Oedipus is about fun, energy and doing things differently. We create fantastical beers to reveal to the world that beer is a magical beverage: tasty, exciting and for everyone. Welcome to our universe 🖖🏽
Since mid 2019 has Heineken a minority interest in the brewery. On June 21, 2023, it was announced that Heineken had acquired all shares of the brewery and thus became full owner of the brewery. The takeover coincides with the move of Oedipus.
The brewery and taproom at Gedempt Hamerkanaal 85 were closed on April 14, 2024. The brewery and taproom were moved to Schaafstraat 19, 300 meters further, where the Oedipus Craft Space will open in the early summer of 2024.

De Wildeman, Amsterdam. Cask. Hazy gold beer, no real head. Light crisp palate. Mild minerals. Good floralness, touch of violets. Light spice, nicely integrated. Subtle citrus and a pinch of black pepper. Light finish. Unusual, tasty and drinkable.

Bier Temple, Amsterdam. Keg. Hazy gold beer, frothy pale cream colour head. Palate is very airy. Light dry floralness does indeed lead to a subtle soapy note, but really not unpleasant. Whisper of dry spice segues to mild citric orange. Dry finish. Interesting!

Keg at Mother Kelly’s, 31/10/14. Pale golden with a moderate off white head. Nose is citric tinged straw, farmy, light yeast, straw, lemon peel. Taste comprises much the same, faint tropical infusion, touch of funky farmyard, lemon rind. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Decent enough saison, clean, simple, no frills but delivers the refreshing edge I crave from the style.

(Draught at In De Wildeman, Amsterdam, 20 Aug 2014) Golden colour with frothy, white head. Fruity, malty nose with citrus, grass, peaches, bread and hints of herbs (sage?). Malty, hoppy taste with notes of bread, grass, citrus and a certain floral bitterness in a dry finish. Light body, quite dry. Fresh and tasty, but a bit thin. Quite nice.

(Draught at Beer Temple, Amsterdam, 20 Aug 2014) Hazy yellow colour with frothy, white head. Malty nose with grain, white bread and peaches. Malty taste with notes of bread, peaches, cereal and a balanced grassy bitterness. Medium body, with a touch of sweetness. Doesn’t really stand out in any direction, but balanced and quite enjoyable.

On tap at PINT BBF ’14. Amber colour, off-white head. Aroma of smoke, petroleum, sausage, rubber tires, hops. Weird. Flavour is light sweet, malty, hoppy, again petroleum, smoke, light salty, rubbery, it’s weird and I somehow hope this was off. Will get me a bottle to re-rate. Light to medium-bodied.

Bottle split in Craigs room, Borefts Day 2 after party tasting, 27/09/14 I think Kenny and I supplied this one? Hazed orange amber with a decent off white covering. Nose is floral, herbal notes, bitter orange, light tropical fruits. Taste comprises pineapple, tangerine, mandarin. Medium bodied, spritzy carbonation, grassy licks in the close. Over carbed which lets this one down a bit.
