Tap at the brewery. Brilliantly clear deep copper color with a decent sized tan head that slowly recedes before leaving plenty of sticky lace to the sides of my glass. Resinous earthy almost raw hop cone on the aroma. Faint bready light caramel malt deep underneath. Bitter resinous hop cookie flavor. Light caramel and toffee maltiness barely counters the hop onslaught. Decent brew, imho needs a bit more body or malt sweetness to counter.

Can from Lazy dog Slightly hazy light golden color. Citrus and pine on the nose with some faint cereal grain and bready maltiness. Spicy earthy breadiness in the flavor with a firm bitterness. Earthy citrus and light pine hop flavor. Medium body moderate to high carbonation. Great hoppy summer ale, I plan on crushing lots of these.

Taster at the source. Mostly clear deep yellow color with a good sized long lasting bubbly white head. Toasty malt with spicy floral hops on the nose and just a touch of non deScript fruit. A touch on the sweet side, but the toastiness and light earthy hopping balances this nicely.

Review from 2015 On tap at the brewery. Fairly clear light golden color with a moderate sized long lasting bubbly white head. Huge hop aromas, earthy, lemongrass and citrus dominate with a faint spicy bread malt underneath. Big lemony citrus hop flavor with some firm hop bitterness. Light hints of bitter butterscotch and toffee peak out now and then as well as a lingering astringency in the finish. Decent summer brew.

12 oz. can from Prost, North Hampton, NH. Deep ruby color, thin lasting head. Aroma of caramel, smoked malt, hints of smoked bacon, sausage.
My rating reflects my enjoyment level of the style. This beer is spot on in the lines of old school German smoked beers. The smoked meat and campfire is pretty strong in a medium plus body. Charred ash finish.

Cask at the brewery Dark chocolate color with a small but long lasting head especially from a cask. Rich chocolate light roast and bits of brown sugar and cinnamon on the nose. Faint pepper or spice as well. The flavor is big chocolate light roast vanilla and cinnamon with faint earthy peppery spice. Medium body light to moderate carbonation. Great tasting beer, but in my opinion the pepper should have been a bit more intense.

(Thanks, John! "johnnnniee") Can. A- Vanilla, chocolate, brownies. A- Black color, black liquid, tan head. T- Vanilla, cocoa, roasty, P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, sweet finish. O- When they say robust vanilla, they mean hold on to your taste buds because they will be blown away with vanilla. At first I thought it might be a bit much, but as I drank it, I really enjoyed what it offered. Quite possibly the most vanilla forward beer I’ve had and yet remained balanced. Tasty no doubt.

(Thanks, John! "johnnnniee") Can. A- Papaya, mango, stone fruits, pine, spruce, grassy, dank. A- Orange color, hazy liquid, white head. T- Pine, bitter, grassy, stone fruits. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, bitter finish. O- Fairly aggressive and a bit too forward for my preference. For the right person, this would be a damn good ipa. While it wasn’t for me per se, I still found a lot to appreciate in it.

Served from cask at the brewery. Fairly clear deep brown color with garnet at the edges. Smoky earthy spicy on the nose with a bit of rich sweet malty character to back it up. Smoky earthy up front with a solid bready sweet malt behind it. Spicy peppery flavor and a lingering burn at the back of the throat long after each sip. Well made beer, not burn you up spicy, but the peppers add a nice compliment to the rich smoky maltiness of the base beer.
