Handpull cask at the Waiting Room, Durham. Light amber, clear with a spotty off-white head. Fresh grassy aroma, a little metallic, some bready malt. Taste is definitely malt-led: sweet with notes of toffee, followed by gentle marmalade bitterness. Short finish. Very slight body with soft carbonation. All right.

Handpull cask at the Heart of Northumberland, Hexham. Lager-coloured blonde and clear with a small white head and thick lacing. Clean scent, some lemon, some fresh grass. Sweet taste, just short of cloying but not a lot of bitterness until the very finish. Light body, soft carbonation. An honest beer, if that makes sense.
