Description
UnBarred was established in 2014 from the shed of our founder and Head Brewer Jordan Mower. Born of a passion to brew uncompromising and exciting beer, our original flagship IPA won the Bev Robbins Award for the Best Sussex Beer in its first year of production. We soon outgrew the shed and moved onto gypsy brewing, enabling us to grow production and hone our craft, working together with other fabulous breweries.

Since establishing our taproom and brewery in the heart of Brighton in August 2019, we have doubled our production and embraced the Brighton community that we call home. Our core range is stocked nationwide, alongside ltd editions that embody the creativity, passion and freedom that have always defined our core ethos. We love to collaborate with other breweries that share those same values.

We’re inclusive, passionate and adventurous in everything we do, from our beer conception through to our design, brewing and welcoming taproom experience. To celebrate our roots, we love to work with local artists, independent businesses and fellow-creatives to showcase the best of the vibrant culture and boundless innovation of this beautiful city.

We are UnBarred.

Thank you Graham for this discovery!

On tap at The Made Inn Ashford. Black beer lasting beige head. plan that smells like a Bueno bar. Hazelnut and milk chocolate. yes some sweetness. thankfully not too much lactose. some hazelnut and wafer. certainly entertaining. not sure I would want more than a third of a pint

Can from Hydrology. Pours clear golden with a thick white head. I mean, yes, it's very grapefruit. Nicely bitter. Pithy grapefruit finish.

440ml can. Black with a brown head. Aroma of dark chocolate, chilli, cinnamon, vanilla. Taste is as described, dark chocolate, a decent kick of chilli and cinnamon, caramel, roast malts, creamy vanilla. Full bodied and smooth.

On tap. Pours black with short tan head. Aromas of toasted marshmallows and doughy roasted malts. Flavors follow same but with additional chocolate but also a slight vegetal note. Dirty lines? I’ll ignore…

Draught keg at BrewDog Leicester as part of CollabFest 2021. Black - or very dark brown with just a tingle of translucency - with a small beige/khaki head. I'm getting the chocolate chip cookie dough aroma with a little bit of French vanilla among the heavy milky chocolate. Sweet taste but surprisingly not overly sweet with a tempering stone fruit bitterness right at the start. Long finish will a vanilla/caramel aftertaste. Slick, thick, oily body. Medium to heavy carbonation. A winner.
