The Sampler, tap: Pours hazy golden with a white head. Aroma is a whole spicerack: ginger, nutmeg, all spice. I also smelled plenty of bubblegum. Taste is pretty much the same. There is a light sweetness, but with a whole hell of a lot of spice. Not bad. My girlfriend was, however, not pleased.

Location: Sampled at Living Social Beerfest, 12/6/2013, as Empire Crusader IPA
Aroma: The nose is mild hops, grass and floral, some caramel, citrus, and earthy notes
Appearance: Pours a clear copper color with a small head and some lace
Flavor: It is lightly sweet and light-medium bitter, not super hoppy, but a nice hop flavor
Palate: The body is medium, leaning light, with a clean feel, and a light dry finish
Overall Impression: I thought this one was a decent example of a more British style IPA. It's not close to being a hop bomb, but it is certainly a drinkable offering.

Location: Sampled at TapNY, 4/27/13
Aroma: The aroma is fairly reliant on the coffee, with not much else here
Appearance: It pours a a dark brownish color with a decent sized brown head
Flavor: The taste is much the same as the nose, coffee/roasted malts, mild bitterness
Palate: The body is medium, it has a feel that is fairly smooth and drinkable
Overall Impression: A solid coffee ale that didn't really male me think scotch ale so much. Nice stuff though. Worth trying.

Poured a clear dark brown with a frothy off white head. The aroma is roasted malt and coffee. The flavour is medium bitter with a roasted malt creamy coffee watery palate. More like a coffee milk stout to me!

Draught @ The Ginger Man, NYC. Pours clear golden with stable white head. Mild hoppy aroma. Ditto taste, with a slightly estery touch. Mild finish. Very low carbonation. Acceptable but I have tried a better Cream Ale before.

Draft at draught 55. Light nose of hops and while being almost flavorless if you really search you can find grass and caramel. Very creamy palate so no lie there but very watery and bland as can be. Not offensive at least.

6 oz. taster @ EBC. Nice smell of coffee, roasted malt, chocolate. Tastes just like it smells, roasted malt, bitter in the middle with a hint of coffee to round it out. Smooth body, low carbonation and medium bodied. Easy drinking and the best thing I sampled at Empire.

6 oz. taster @ EBC. Poured a golden color with a small white head. Nose is light bubble gum and a hint of Belgian. Flavor is again Belgian yeast and biscuity malt. Light to medium body with good carbonation. The flavor is there but seems real dummed down. Seems like the brewer wanted to play this safe without pushing any boundaries.

6 oz. taster @ EBC. Color is clear amber. No head. I had to struggle to get any aroma… no aroma at all. The flavor is weak at best. Roasted caramel malts and floral, or grassy hops. Light in body with a watery mouthfeel.
