Description
The name of our brand, Guineu, means fox in Catalan. This small mammal, common in our lands, has to be cunning to survive.

At Cervesa Guineu we understand beer as a product made with passion, which needs to be looked after from beginning to end. Our main premise is having absolute respect for our ingredients and natural brewing process. Craft beer means to explore, to surprise the palate with new and different nuances.

Located in an early 20th century building, in the textile colony of Valls de Torroella in the Barcelona province. Our brewery stands by the Cardener river. At present, our premises have a total area of 750m2, where the whole process of creation of our beers takes place. It all begins with an initial idea, followed by the design and creation of each recipe, until we actually brew it and finally package it. All this to offer you the finest possible product.

Pours black with an immense head, very frothy, good retention. Very acidic/sour aroma, a lot of dark berry aromas, some oak, spices, lot of sour cherries. Medium body, spicy, thickish mouthfeel. Flavour is rather complex, lot of sour cherries again, fruity in general, medium sweetness, but also considerably sour. Nice dark malts, some roastiness. Lot of oak, almost too much. Long oaky, slightly boozy, malty finish. Really interesting and very nice once it warms up and you get into it. 8/4/8/4/15 Update 26.08.2018: Had on tap at Van Moll festival, it has improved considerably. Almost no acidity and more complexity. Delicious.

(bottle, 33cl) Black colour without any head. Distinctive aroma of vanilla with spicy notes, chocolate (cake) and mildly roasted accents. Moderately sweet and slightly roasted bitter flavour, full bodied with an absolutely tame carbonation. Chocolate- and vanilla-laden taste with mildly roasted and spicy notes, lingering into the slightly bozzey finish. Nice but lacks carbonation. 29.XII.17

Shared with Višnja 666 and Pilot Goran at a tasting session in summer of 2017. Thanks! Dark brown, brownish head. Roasty, nutty, dried fruits, vague vanilla. Very roasty and thick, dried fruits return in the flavour. Medium body, alcohol present. Expected more vanilla and milkshake kind of creaminess.

Keg at MK VHX, 18/12/17. Light haze on a golden pour with a decent off white cap. Nose is sweet malts, caramel, tangerine, soft bread dough. Taste comprises orange pith, light pine needle, citric tinged straw, light breads, red grapefruit, airy malts. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close peppered with balanced juicy hop bitterness. Decent enough easy drinking exponent of the style.

(Keg at Sori Taproom, 20171212) The beer poured black. Its head was small and lightly brown. Aroma had sweetness, soy sauce and alcohol. Palate was full bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were cough mixture, burnt malts, sweetness, ash and bitterness. Aftertaste was sweet and bitter. A sweet and messy brew with medicine-like notes.

Hazy amber beer, small cream colour head. Smooth palate, fairly dry, reasonable fine carbonation. Soft dry malts, light dry creamy sweetness. Mild dried fruits. Decent amount of light and smooth Armanagac. Good ripe fruits and mild spice. Light and semi dry finish. A simplistic tripel that acts as a good delivery mechanism for the very nice Armanagac barrel aging. Seems to be quality Armanagac. Nice.
