Wetherspoon Summer Cider Festival 2025 #4. Just as dry as the Rich's Farmhouse Dry I've just retried in this festival, this one lingers longer in aftertaste. There's a bitter and tarty apple here.

Bag in a box at the Waggon & Horses, Halesowen. Mid-golden and a little hazy. Intense leather notes, crabapple, some smoke. Taste is sour, more crabapple, intense leathery character still. Lots of tannins. Finishing dry, flat, slightly watery body. An intense experience. Like the scruples I used to have in Devon.

Sample courtesy of Grumbo, cheers GB! Initial aroma off the pour was funky that turned into mint leaf and green apples. Not much mint coming through on the taste, mainly of green apples and you get more of the funky aroma when you go into drink. Bitter, dry finish. A bit torn on this one.

Bottled by lowcostbeer.com. Light cloudy gold, looks still, no bubbles. Tangy apple juice aroma, with light funkiness. Taste of apple juice and skins, moderate vinegar note and sharpness, wood, drying finish. Slick medium body. Good.

Draft into a bottle from lowcostbeer.com. Golden with amber tinge, still, one or two bubbles. Aroma has a deep fruity apple juice, brown sugar, light funk. Taste is dry from the off, tart deep apple juice, skins galore, lacks something in the finish as it kind of fades out. Medium bodied, slick, faint carbonation tingle, drying; excellent mouthfeel. Decent rich cider, has some character but wouldn't say it's easy drinking.

330ml made up bottle from lowcostbeer.com probably from bag in a box. Clear light amber, still, minimal bubbles. A fruity apple juice aroma with brown sugar hints, some cores. Taste again has a nice fruitiness, some flora and light brown sugar sprinkle. Lacks a bit of character but is tasty. Smooth body.

BIAB at Newcastle Beer & Cider Festival 2024. Golden colour, bubbly thin white foam head and aroma of apple, fruity. Taste is sweet, apple, fruit, baked apple notes, with some light acidity and drying tannin. Medium bodied, low carbonation, medium drying finish. Quite OK.

Can from a deli in Ripley. Aroma has a bitter peel streak with a light sweet edge. Clear light gold. Fizzy foamy translucent white head has a short shelf life. Initial dry bitterness is swiftly followed by sweet juice. Although the dryness is there throughout. Light. Thin. Soft-fizzy carbonation. Long dry slightly astringent finish. Nice if unexciting.

Bottle from Waitrose's Longstock Farm Shop in Dorset. Gold coloured with a light sparkle. Sweetish with some dry apple skins and a light farmyard funk. Just a touch of fresh garden mint in the finish. Pleasant and easy drinking, maybe could have taken a little more garden mint to make it more distinctive. My wife rather enjoyed it though.
