Description
We opened our doors in Brixton in mid 2013 with the aim of teaching Londoners how to make beer. We have expanded operations at this site to offer up to 30 draught lines featuring our commercially available beers, exclusive nano brews and guest beers plus a large stock of cans and bottles to take home. We remain one of the very few venues in London to stock home brewers with hops, malt and yeast.

Bottle split at L6, thanks to LKS, 17/01/19. Black with a decent tan head. Nose is tangy dark fruits, caramel, dark malts, sweet notes. Taste comprises sweet malts, chocolate, light fruit tang, toffee, mellow roast. Medium plus body, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a light boost. Passable number but pretty basic for the style and lacking depth.

Bottle shared in Canary Wharf - picked up at the Lab. Pours clear, deep brown with a small, foamy tan head. Interesting, has some scorched cinnamon, dry chocolate, soft roast, ash, alcohol, burnt brown bread. Medium to full bodied with average, massaging carbonation. Light warmth in the finish, nips of burnt cedar, ash, bitter cocoa. So so.

Bottle at home in Hackney - picked up at Pigs Ear 2018. Pours deep copper-red with a dense, creamy khaki head. Lots of piney resin, toasted malts, nips of brown sugar, ripening oranges. Medium bodied with fine carbonation; lightly chewy. Subtle warmth in the finish, more oily resin, orange rind. Solid.

Can at home in Hackney - picked up at the brewery. Pours clear, rich gold with a frothy, white head. Decently well rounded, though not super juicy or anything. Some sun-kissed, bready pale malts, mellow piney hops, dried citrus peel. Light bodied with massaging carbonation. Finishes with more piney hops, a little grass, dry pale malts, tangerine peel. Fair stuff.

Can at home in Hackney - picked up at the London Beer Lab. Pours clear honey-gold with a lively, frothy white head. Pretty interesting stuff, quite sweet, lots of bready malts, herbal tea, a little oily vanilla, ripe orange, lightly bitter citrus peel. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation. Sweet, vaguely sugary finish, more ripe citrus, herbal tea, leaves, doughy bread. It's certainly a novelty, but I can't say I would be in a rush to revisit this beer.

Keg at the Lab. Pours hazy gold with a lasting, frothy white head. The nose holds ripened citrus fruits, sweat, pale bread. Light sweet flavour, some lemon peel, more aged citrus, mild salty sweat, low bitterness. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation. Finishes with rounded pale bread, lemon rind, hay, a bit more salt. Pretty so so overall,
