Bottle at home in London - sourced from the Lab. It opens with a loud, lasting hiss but, thankfully,does not gush. It does, however, pours with a billowing, growing tan froth head. The colour of the beer itself is deep amber, and it’s clear. Coaxing some aroma through all the head is no mean feat, but you can pick up notes of dirty leaves, old leather, earth. Light sweet flavor with prominent dried, leathery berries, bitter earth, old wood, leaves. Light to medium bodied with lively, mouth-filling carbonation. Somewhat drying on the finish, with light tannins, more earth, bitter apple skins, more leathery berries, wood, faint plum. It’s not bad, but the flavors are fairly one-dimensional and a little bland even. Just drinkable.

Bottle from London Beer Lab. A brown beer with a moderate beige head. Light chocolate and brown sugar up front. Generally sweet with some balancing dry autumn leaves. OK but lacks any real oomph, and tastes weaker than it is.

Bottle at home in London - picked up at the Lab. Pours rich, deep brown with a fizzy tan head. The nose has soft roast, hints of cocoa, some tangy dark fruits. Light to medium sweet flavor, with some tart and berries that suggest an infection. Very faint hints of coconut, chocolate. Medium bodied with average carboantion. Further tang in the finish, berries, minimal coconut, wood, raisin. Unfortunate, but this one isn’t how it’s supposed to be.

Bottle at home in London - sourced from the Lab. A slow but determined gusher! Pours cloudy gold with a lasting, frothy white head. Dry, pithy citrus in the nose, a bit of spicy pine, hay. Light sweet flavor with distracting mineral flint, lemon rind, grapefruit pith. Medium bodied with average, massaging carbonation. Clean, pithy and minerally finish, some mango, a bit of pale bread, bitter pine, more pith and rind. Pretty good stuff overall.

Bottle at home in London - picked up from the Lab. Pours mostly clear, bright gold with a thick, creamy white head. The nose holds lightly doughy pale bread, some juicy tangerine, orange. Light-medium sweet flavor, relatively dry, with further citrus fruit character coming out of the hops, a bit of straw, some lemon rind. Light to medium bodied with average, somewhat smooth carbonation. Fairly crisp and clean to finish, with notes of pithy tangerine, more rindy bitterness, balancing pale malt sweetness. Nice and drinkable, and just a little bit muted.

Bottle at home in London - picked up at the Lab. Pours brown with a soft, frothy mocha head. Some lightly tangy dark malts in the nose, a bit of cocoa, ashy roast. Light sweet flavor with notes of burnt wood, earth, leathery berries, tobacco ash. Light bodied with relatively soft carbonation; it’s a bit under-carbonated, really. Finishes with some burnt sugars, sturdy roasted malts, scorched earth, more aged and lightly tangy dark fruits, bittersweet cocoa. Not bad, but not terribly cohesive or well executed.

Bottle at home in London - picked up at the lab. Slow gusher! Pours lightly hazy yellow-gold with a foamy, white head. The nose holds some gummy citrus fruits, tangerine, melon. Light-medium sweet flavor with pithy grapefruit, lemon peel, minerals, flowers, spicy pine, faint plastic. Light bodied with fine to average carbonation. Finishes with rindy and pithy citrus, light plastic, faint pale malt sweetness, woody dryness. So so.

Bottle shared at Leighton’s place. 25/08/2015. Thanks to Leighton. Hazed dull orange coloured pour with a lasting frothy off white head. Aroma is sharp lemon, bready, doughy bready. Flavour is composed of sharp tangy doughy wheat, orange rind, bready wheat, banana, and some berry. Palate is high spritzy carbonation, abrasive, grainy. Dry finish.

Bottle at home in London - picked up at the Lab. Pours hazy gold with a large, billowing white foam head. The nose has some pithy citrus, lemon peel, pale grains. Light sweet flavor with lots of drying minerals, plastic, faint smoke, rindy bitterness, hints of tangerine, grain husk. Light bodied with average to lively carbonation. Abrasive bitterness to finish, more pith, rind, minerals, slight plastic. A bit rough. Needs work.

Bottle split in the Bespin Could Network, thanks to Lando, 03/09/15. Clear golden with a moderate off white covering. Nose carries ash tray notes, pipe tobacco, light spice, chilli, paper. Taste comprises green pepper, spice, smoked malt. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Ok for what it is I guess!
