Description
8 Wired is a micro brewing company based in Warkworth, New Zealand.

Our mission is to produce mind blowing beers that will wow craft beer lovers, excite fellow beer geeks and educate the mis-guided who still believe that "beer is just beer". If you want to come on this journey with us, please get in touch.

8 Wired Brewing is inspired by the legendary Kiwi can-do mentality and fellow craft brewers who have dared to challenge the masses and show us all that beer is no longer “just beer”! Known for producing “New world interpretations of old world styles” 8 Wired have multiple shades of very hoppy IPAs, Saisons, Porters and Stouts in their permanent line up and have the biggest barrel aged and sour program in the southern hemisphere.

After 5 years of contract brewing, eventually at 4 different breweries across New Zealand we now finally have our very own brewery (In Warkworth, North of Auckland) where we brew and package everything.

Brown ale isn’t really my style, but i still liked this beer. Nice taste and nice mouthfeel. Colour isn’t my favorite but still fine.

Draft. A hazy red beer with a yellow head. The aroma has notes of hops, straw, caramel, and malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of caramel, hops, spices, and malt, leading to a very bitter finish.

My favorite beer from New Zealand. Too bad it’s quite hard to get a bottle of these. Great IPA. I think we got this bottle from De Molen.

From tap at MikkellerBar. Pours hazy dark amber with a small tan head. Aroma is dense fruity and dark malty. Pinewood hoppy too. Dense malty and pinewood solid hoppy flavoured. Bone dry and bitter into the finish. Ends solid bitter.

Bottle shared by Marcus. Pours black with a beige head that didn’t last. Light bacon smoke aroma. Flavor is relatively light - smoke - but something of non-bitter hop as well. I can imagine chocolate in this. Very nice flavor.

Bottled from de Molen. Slight hazy amber color, medium off-white head. Soft floral hoppy aroma, bit citrus, nelson sauvin, slight tropical fruit, hint of biscuit. Hint of sweetness in taste, mostly bitter, slight grainy, white wine. Quite dryish bitter palate, but not crisp, more fruity.

Trockener Abgang. 11/11/11/12/11/11

Bottle. Viscous pour. Black with a coat of tan head that soon disappears. Modest but intense aroma with burnt malt, coffee, caramel, blackcurrants, alcohol. Oily texture. Sweet and full of chocolate and coffee with roasted flavours supporting. Some dark fruit, some astringency. Bitterness doesn’t quite overcome the thick sweet flavours but it’s there. Nice carbonation level helps make it very drinkable. It’s a big, rich and perfectly sound stout that just didn’t seem to have anything much to say. [7 2 7 3 14] Bottle. Black with a good inch of tan head that lasts pretty well. Aroma of singed malt, mocha, molasses - smells both a bit burnt and sweet. Oily but not a lot of body for 10%. Mocha and somewhat syrupy sweetness, decently bitter and slightly astringent finish. No real bottom end. Burnt flavours only somewhat masked by sweetness and bitterness. Expected to want to disown my previous rating but this one is for others.

(bottle) Pitch-black coloured hue with a beige medium-sized foamy and stable head. Roast-malty and slightly leathery and subtle fruity aroma with notes of chocolate, vanilla and shy traces of smoke. Bitter-sweet flavour, medium to light bodied with a soft carbonation. Moderately roasty malty taste with leather, chocolate, a subtle fruity touch and shades of smoke malt towards the bitter and slightly sweet finish including a lasting aftertaste of chocolate and vanilla. Pleasant but a tad thin. 11.V.11
