500ml bottle purchased from Bryter Moon deli and drunk at home. Brownish gold and clear with a film of off-white head. Light notes of TCP and tamarind but the unholy alliance works. Sweet and fairly fruity with some satsuma peel notes settling into the medicinal finish. Medium body and carbonation. I’ve had some mediocre beers from Charnwood lately but this, now, this isn’t bad.

500ml bottle from Bryter Moon Deli. Golden and clear with almost no head. Grassy aroma with hight cooking herbs and some bubblegum. Maybe a touch of mint. Sweet taste with more gummy/grassy character, a little bit of buttered toast. Medicinal bitterness on the finish. Medium to heavy carbonation. Not like any hefeweizen I've ever had. Pretty disappointed with this one.

500ml bottle purchased from Bryter Moon Deli, Leicester. Mid-brown, translucent with the tiniest ring of beige head. Big malty notes on the aroma, ash, tobacco. Bittersweet taste, charred toast and some black grape notes before a harsh medicinal bitterness in the finish. Medium carbonation. Not the best black IPA I’ve ever had, so I probably won’t try it again… no more Mr Night Sky!

Cask at Smithfield, Derby. Pours a golden yellow with minimal white head. The aroma has malts and corn plus some hints of citrus. In the mouth it is initially sweet, but soon becomes bitter. Summer fruits are the main flavour, plus traces of grapefruit and citrus. Finish is slightly dry. Not bad at all.

Pours an almost clear golden colour with a small thin white head. The aroma is fruity and floral, sweet citrus and berries. A moderately sweet fruity taste, sweet pale malts, sweet orange and berry flavours with a light semi-dry bitterness in the finish.

Cask at the Loughborough beer festival 2020. Deep cola colour with a thin tan head. Aroma and taste are pasted malty and citrus. Slight chocolate. Oily body.

Handpull cask from the Ale Wagon, Leicester. Light gold and clear with a small white head. Ammonia and floral aroma. Sweet taste with some citrus and cat pee bitterness. Sour notes to the finish. Oily body with soft carbonation. All in all a substandard offering from Charnwood.

Cask at the Hall Croft Tap, Shepshed. Light yellow/gold and clear with a large off-white head. Apricot aroma with heavy floral notes and a hint of honey. Sweet taste, again lots of apricot, with a big fruity turn. Not bitter in the finish but certainly more balanced. An excellent beer from Charnwood.

Handpull cask at the Horse & Trumpet, Sileby. Light to mid-gold, clear with a thin white head. Light notes of hay and butter in the aroma. Taste is better, with a fruity bitterness rising above the buttery notes. Gentle bitterness finish. Charnwood do some decent pales but this is not one of them. Bit too buttery for me.

Handpull cask at the Moorings, Barrow-upon-Soar. Light gold and clear with a tight white head which leaves lots of lacing. Scratchy hay aroma, a bit of weeds and wildflowers, some buttered toast. Taste in more complex: bittersweet with a light lemony bitterness ushering in the finish. I don't get any of the tropical fruit mentioned in the description or the previous rates. Not bad but there's that damn buttery note prevalent in too many UK goldens. Its in good condition but just not that great a beer.
