33cl bottle at home. From Hoptimaal. Poured brown in color, almost no head, near flat. Caramel and toffee mostly. Light figs in flavor, some hints of salmiac in the aftertaste. Almost flat, smooth mouthfeel, feels thin, still quite interesting beer.

On tap at Proeflokaal Arendsnest, pours a deep dark red with a small off-white head. Aroma brings out toasted caramel, some red fruits, and bready malt. Flavour is very malty, with no hops, just lots of toasted caramel and red fruits. Sweet, oily, lacking complexity. It's alright, rather sweet - hardly has the depth for a barley wine.

330ml bottle. Opalescent, orange, dark golden to amber colour with average to huge, frothy to creamy, moderately lasting and lacing, white head. Rather plain, grassy and minimally fruity, hoppy and slightly strawy and grainy, pale malty aroma, hints of melon, waxy overtones. Taste is minimally sweet, slightly grainy and strawy, pale malty and moderately bitter, grassy, slightly fruity hoppy, hints of melon, slightly waxy overtones. Oily texture, smooth and soft, minimally cloying palate, medium to fine, mildly prickly carbonation. A bit monotonous, tacky, unfresh - not really convincing.

Decent beer, it has the great german qualities, but it very much lacks the cleanliness of the classic style. Wildeman ams
