Pours a deep dark brown colour and a firm, uneven light beige head with fair retention. Aroma's of toast, roasted grain, rye bread. Retronasal it's light boozy sour, roasty, rye. Flavour is light sour, light sweet, roasty. Medium bodied. Long finish, slightly woody and light moderate bitter. Third time I bought a Barrel Project from De Eem, still unlucky.

Bottle. Color: Black, thin mocha head. Aroma: Boozy, Bourbon, some roasted malt in the background. Taste: Bourbon, vanilla, toffee. Some roasted malt, coffee and smoke. Umami. Over medium body, below average carbonation. Dry-ish finish, tannins, notes of oak wood. A bit thin for this kind of BA beer and a bit too much barrel but ok overall.

(Draught at Arendsnest, Amsterdam, 27 Aug 2022) Golden colour with frothy, off-white head. Fruity, spicy nose with notes of citrus, apricots and herbs. Malty, hoppy taste with bread, spices, citrus, hay and a balanced floral/citric bitterness. More than medium body, with a slight sweetness. Tasty and refreshing. Nice one.

Another acquisition from a Dutch retailer, fortunate to have this one. The 33 cl bottle is getting opened and going into my Straffe Hendrik tulip glass. The view is a cola brown liquid with a very small ring of taupe bubbles. I find the scent inviting, dark fruit, grain, some yeastiness working its way up, all good. The taste is solid but not extraordinary. Malt, dates, wheat bread, leather, earth and sorghum. More bitter than sweet. Decent.

Clear deep amber beer, small bubbly tan head that doesn't last long. Smooth palate, light and semi dry, modest fine carbonation. Thin malts, thin creamy caramel that isn't too sweet. The PX barrel is .. alright, coulda been bolder. It's a kinda damp and watered down PX but hey, it's still PX and brings it's rich dark sherry savoury vibe, just not as intensely delivered as it could have been. A little vanilla oak. The back end reveals a little of the quad base beer, ripe fruits and mild esters. Not bad but promised more.

Hazy amber brown beer, short lived bubbly tan head. Fairly light palate, mildly dry, the carbonation is there, just, flirting with flat is this beer. Smooth caramel malts, not that sweet. Wet wood in the mid. Rounded cognac, ripe and fruity on the back. A kind of nothing finish. Like the barrelling here but the barleywine backbone is both fairly flat and lacks any depth whatsoever.
