Description
Artisanally brewed in Amsterdam since 2011.

Combining influences from the rich European beer culture with a non-conformist attitude.

From a family heritage of Swedish farm brewers and trained by the masters of ale and porter in England, we ended up in the Netherlands to create our own microcosm in the world of beer.

Inspired by the lesser known sides of European brewing culture and devoted to uncommon artisanal techniques, Butcher's Tears makes distinctive beers that progress beyond fashion and convention.

33 cl bottle @ home. Deep brown color. Short, beige head. Aroma’s: caramel/toffee, some red fruit, hints of smoke, slightly herbal. Flavor is medium sweet, slightly roasted and somewhat bitter. Medium bodied. Finishes dry and medium to full bitter. Not really a bock, but quite nice anyway.

On tap at In de Wildeman. Muddy brown colour, thin off-white head. Aroma of dark fruits, roosvicee, light roasted malts, cocoa powder. Flavour is medium sweet at first, roosvicee, dark fruits, then becomes more bitter, dry, almost chalky, roasted malts, cold coffee. Light to medium-bodied. Decent bock.

Draft at In De Wildeman. Pours hazy brown with a thick off white head. Aroma of dark fruits, caramel, a little citrusy hops and alcohol. Flavour is light moderate sweet and moderate bitter, certainly more bitter than the average bock with a long bitter finish. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation.

Bottle courtesy of Kermis. Looks truly awful. Totally lifeless in every way. Interesting medicinal like aroma which does follow through to the flavour which I shouldn't like, but really I do. I'd love to taste more from this brewery. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
