Description
Artisanally brewed in Amsterdam since 2011.

Combining influences from the rich European beer culture with a non-conformist attitude.

From a family heritage of Swedish farm brewers and trained by the masters of ale and porter in England, we ended up in the Netherlands to create our own microcosm in the world of beer.

Inspired by the lesser known sides of European brewing culture and devoted to uncommon artisanal techniques, Butcher's Tears makes distinctive beers that progress beyond fashion and convention.

Can 33cl de et partagée avec Vincent, merci. From Butcher's Tears Webshop.
Canned 13/7/202, BB 08/2021.

Bottle directly from brewery webshop. Color: Black, light brown head. Aroma: Vinuous, red wine, some roasted malt and Brett funk. Taste: Roasted malt, quite vinuous, red wine, subtle Brett funk. Starting more to the sweet side (moderate sweet), going to over moderate bitter towards the finish and finishing over medium bitter, balanced with continuous moderate sour / tart flavours. Notes of dark chocolate, some coffee, wood and fruity red grapes. Ending over medium bitter and dark roasted malt. Another nice unusual beer from this brewery.

Bottle, directly from brewery webshop end of january 2021, bottle on Wild 4-pack. Keeping Porter aged on oak barrels 2015 vintage, according to the label, so looks like it's the brewery aged version of the previous ratings. Color: Very dark ruby, almost black, thin beige head. Aroma: Brett funk, some roasted malt and tart fruity red/dark fruit. Taste: Moderate sour, light to moderate sweet and bitter, dark roasted and bit burnt malt, some dark roasted coffee beans, subtle Brett funk, leathery notes, notes of red and dark fruit and hints of wood. Medium to just below medium body, I expected a little more body. Below average carbonation. Nice, but a bit rough.

Bottle directly from brewery webshop. Color: Bit hazy reddeish copper, very thin beige head. Aroma: Sourish and salty, fruitynotes of red fruit. Taste: Complex combination of moderate to over moderate sweetish and tart and moderate bitter and salty flavours. Notes of vinegar and caramel and candy sugar notes. Also fruity notes of sourish red and sweetish dried dark fruit. Bitterness is a bit more at the finish. Very dry astringent mouthfeel at finish. Just above medium body, just below average carbonation. I was a bit afraid of this 'salt & vinegar strong ale' but it works out quite well. I kinda like these Butcher's Tears experiments.

Stijltje #210. Goed spul. Geen idee hoe representatief dit is voor de stijl.
