A deep red beer with a disappearing beige head. The aroma has primary notes of sirup, but also light notes of hops. The flavor is sweet with notes of caramel and sirup, leading to an end with hints of wood. The body is somewhat thick.

(Bottle 34,1 cl) Courtesy of presario. Pours a slightly hazy amber golden with a small, off-white head. Very fresh and citrusy - grapefruitish - aroma. Medium-bodied with some caramel and then this fresh, citrusy hopping leaving a dry bitterness. Very lovely indeed. 290806

Dull hazy amber with no head - really lacklustre appearance. The aroma is mainly caramel malt and very light spice almost entirely muted by dull overriding yeastiness. The peppercorns are assertive and make a spicy statement backed by a firm hop bitterness. The citrus adds a refreshing juiciness to the finish but this seems totally seperated from the malt-spice aspect. So not terribly cohesive. One of those step-in-the-right-direction brews that has the potential to be really cool with a few refinements.

A hazy dark amber beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is very sweet with strong notes of caramel and hops as well as quite a lot of alcohol. The flavor is also very sweet with strong notes of caramel, and alcohol, the burns in the cheeks. The end is light notes of wood.

(Bottle 34,1 cl) 10.2% ABV. Pours a slightly hazy reddish with a small, off-white head. Sweetish aroma of overripe fruit. Extremely full-bodied with lovely accents of oak. Flavours of overripe fruit and some aroma hops. Lovely and very classic (and classy) American style Barley Wine. Thanks heaps to presario for this gem. 150506

(Bottle 34,1 cl) Pours a clear, orangey brown with a small, off-white head. Malty, lightly sherry-like aroma. Full-bodied, sweet caramel character with some fruit. Appears almost like a "light" Barleywine. Very discreet bitterness. Thanks to Presario for this rare gem. 300406

Dark hazy amber with a dissipating off white head. Malty aroma with sharp little lactic points. In mouth, sweet caramel malt with some light acidity, but still pleasant, with some nuttyness. Beer was obtained end of Nov. 2005, so not that old, so it may be a bit off. Thanks Piscator.

Bottle: Poured a light black color beer with a medium head with below average retention. Aroma of faint smokiness is identifiable with very little of malt. Taste is smooth with some smoke though not as much as there should be. Very little hops seems to have been included in here and body is thinner then expected. A bit too light overall for my liking even though I would be tempted to give extra point for trying to be different.

Bottle: Poured a deep amber color ale with a medium head with short retention. Aroma of citrus hops is quite powerful and dominant. Taste is also dominated by the citrus hops with a lingering bitterness at the end. Body is too thin (definite lack of malt) for the style and the carbonation is a bit low. Nice for the style from a Canadian brewer but kind of weak compared to US staples of the style.
