Bottle at a house party when I was looking for a change, but a bit far gone to remember much about it. It was followed by the DJ playing "Baggy Trousers" and "Lip up Fatty" which cleared the dancefloor of everyone but me. A good stout with bitter hops and a rather pleasant mouthfeel, but deserves a re-rate. I did however come home with the remaining 11 bottles of the case as the lady who brought them didn't want them and no one else did either. Result! Re rate Jan 2018 - An interesting low abv stout without the mouthfeel that you would normally expect from the style. There was plenty of toasted malt in the flavour and some good bitter hops. I would classify this as a dark bitter and there is nothing wrong with it at all. I have 7 bottles left and I am looking forward to drinking them.

Bottle at a house party when I was trying to wake up my taste buds! A very earthy ginger flavour to this beer that I would say it is more of a ginger beer rather than a beer with some ginger. If you see what I mean. The flavour really didn't do it for me, but it did the job and got me ready for the next round.

Cask@Charlies Bar, Copenhagen - pours golden with a white head. Grassy and light floral hoppy, hay, straw, some lemon citrus notes, sweet white bready malt, medium bitter hoppy finish.

A proper English bitter that veers towards best bitter territory. Lots of strong dark malt and a nice bitter flavour and texture from the hops. Biscuit and a welcome farmyard flavour made this a very pleasurable pint.

Bottle at sister-in law’s house and my first smoked ghost chilli porter. It poured well and had an appropriate brooding, dark and impenetrable look in the glass. The nose was toasted malt and a whiff of chilli. The first sip was an immediate taste of toasted malt that was quickly steamrollered by an intense burn from the chilli that dominated everything. I had another sip and it was just the chilli burn that was still in my mouth 10 minutes after I had tipped the rest down the sink. It was horrible and not something I ever want to drink again. What lunatic drinks this stuff? Apart from as some sort of a dare at the end of the evening when drunken machismo overcomes sanity and any sense of self-preservation?

Bottle at sister-in law’s house. Poured beautifully and looked gorgeous in the glass. A really rather delicious porter. Coffee and vanilla that was balanced against an underlying savoury flavour and texture. The toasted malt was present and the mouthfeel was very good. Overall this was very good and I would happily have this again.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Max’s place. Thanks Tom L. Black. Big peat aroma, alcohol, chocolate. Sweet flavor, smoky, peaty, whiskey, roast, boozy, coffee, some chocolate, wood. OK, but kinda over the top.

Bottle 330ml. @ [ The Stat Improver Tasting ] - Saxo, Højbjerg - Aarhus, Denmark. [ As Bath Sulis Collection - Traditional English Barleywine ]. [ Vintage 2013 ]. Clear medium to dark brown amber colour with a average, frothy - fizzy and open, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, sweet malt, dark malt, bread, oxidide, laber larver. Flavor is moderate to light heavy sweet with a long duration, dark malt, sweet malt, laber larver, bread. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft, finish feel is light alcoholic. [20170617] 7-3-8-3-15

Sampled @ GBBF 2017, Day 2. A clear golden beer with a small white head. Aroma of mild citrusy hops toasted malt. Taste of toasted malt, dry mild citrusy hops, biscuit.
