Description
First brewed in Summer 2008. Beers under the badge "Chideock Brewery", but coming from the same source were seen in May 2012. Brewery location North End Farm, Venn Lane, North Chideok. By 2014 the brewery had ceased brewing on its own equipment while seeking new premises. In the meantime it is believed that some beers are being brewed on an occasional basis at Sherfield Village brewery. In 2016 brewing recommenced at a new location in Devon. Brewing ceased again during 2020 with production moving back to Sherfield Village.

Bottle shared at the Night of Garbage. Procured at the House of Kris. Pours clear amber with a huge off-white head. The nose smacks of a brett infection - lovely! A bit of dry tangerine, poo, some earth and grass. Light sweet flavor with dry leaves, mild brett tang, faint grassy bitterness, tangerine pith. Light bodied with lively carbonation. Clean and dry to finish with more dry and pithy tangerine, a bit of wood, mellow poop and grass. I doubt the brett was intentional but it does make the beer pretty interesting.

Cask at the pig’s ear fest 2013. Light amber pour with a light haze and a loose big bubble white head. Aroma is spruce needles and pine. Flavour is light cara malt, light smoke then cinammon and spruce. Spicy. Spices are too strong.

Murky dark red-brown beer. Untidy bubbly white head. Palate is smooth with very modest carbonation. Light unsweet caramel. Appley dried fruits and subtle spice. Light bitter toffee. Finishes dry with a strong bitter linger. Didn’t think much of this at all to start with but it was a modest grower. A kinda bitter late autumnal ale.

Bottle drank on hols in St Ives. Very hazy deep amber beer with a small off white head. Palate is dry and crisp. Dry spice and astingent bitter hops. Little marmalade. Finishes dry. Long bitter linger, somewhat noble hop like. Dry, bitter and spicy is not normally by bag but this is strangely drinkable.

Old Fountain. Cask. Clear gold beer with a small pale cream coloured head. Palate is smooth and semi dry. Very modest carbonation. Modest carbonation. An odd flavour off mildly spicy tea, like Lapsong Suchong, but it’s not that and it’s more peppery! Touch of marmalade leads to a dry finish. Quite well joined up in a strange way!

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines, Birmingham. Poured a clear medium amber with a frothy white head. The aroma is of citrus fruit, honey, grassy hops and a little spice. The flavour is medium bitter with a medium bodied smooth liqourice bitter palate and a short bitter finish. I really liked this beer. It has everything.

Very hazy amber beer, decent pale cream coloured head. Palate is softish and dry. Raw tasting malt. Strong hops - floral and with strong peel bitterness. Finishes dry. The grain messes this up, shame!

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines, Solihull. Poured a cloudy dark amber with frothy off white head. The aroma is alcoholic and woody. The flavour is strong bitter with a liqourice alcoholic palate and a long bitter finish. I found this incredibly hard to rate but I did like it!
