Description
The Clun Brewery was founded by Matt Williamson and Jack Limond in 2007 to supply local craft beers to the White Horse in Clun, which Jack has owned since 2001. The brewery started as an upgraded homebrew, brewing 9 gallons at a time with Burco boilers as their water baths. This basic setup gave inconsistent results, and in 2010 they moved into an old garage with two 72 gallon barrels. The extra capacity helped Clun build a local reputation, and their range of beers regularly feature as guest ales in over 60 Shropshire pubs as well as The White Horse.

Gravity fed third of a pint, Bridgnorth CAMRA Beer Festival, 8th September 2023. Lovely looking beer, clear mahogany body, beige crown. Malty and semi-sweet, not a lot of hop action.

Had to give this a try whilst visiting for a CAMRA Award presentation for this very beer (Shropshire Brewers Cup, customer beer of the festival at both Shrewsbury CAMRA and Oktoberfest) - and it is very lovely! Clear and golden with a frothy white head and a soft floral and fruity nose. Light to medium bodied, very smooth, near creamy, it's nice and fruity with a subtle light biscuit malt backbone. Far from extreme, but fabulously drinkable (I had more than one).

A lovely easy drinking light ale, it's clear and golden with a frothy white head and a soft, lemony nose. Light bodied, smooth, soft and fruity notes are elegant and there's a touch of floral hop in the finish

Cask @ Prince of Wales, Shrewsbury. Deep brown pour, off-white froth atop. Lovely old ale, light and balanced not too much depth of flavour compared to a classic old ale, but a nice sipper overall.

500ml bottle – Pours with a light haze, golden in colour with a decent sized mostly lasting foamy white head. Aroma is light toasted malts, floral with some citrus hop notes. Moderately light sweet malt taste, some hay and floral flavour and a drying bitterness in the finish.
