Description
The Clun Brewery was founded by Matt Williamson and Jack Limond in 2007 to supply local craft beers to the White Horse in Clun, which Jack has owned since 2001. The brewery started as an upgraded homebrew, brewing 9 gallons at a time with Burco boilers as their water baths. This basic setup gave inconsistent results, and in 2010 they moved into an old garage with two 72 gallon barrels. The extra capacity helped Clun build a local reputation, and their range of beers regularly feature as guest ales in over 60 Shropshire pubs as well as The White Horse.

Cask pint at The Cock Hotel, Wellington Shropshire on 19th April 2016. Amber with an off white head. Toffee, caramel sweetness with an apple pie fruitiness. Both the head and the beer had a creamy, oily texture which suited the flavours: liked it.

Bottle from the White Horse, Clun, Appearance - golden with a nice fluffy head. Nose - lemon sherbet and orange tang on the end. Taste - tangy lemon again. It still has a wild yeast thing going on. Palate - light to medium bodied with a tangy texture and a dry tangy finish. Overall - I reckon this would be better on cask. There’s a touch of something wild yeast in there.

500ml bottle shared with Ashton McCobb and Stuu666. Pours clear golden with a massive white head. Aromas are mostly sherbet and yeast. Taste is woody, light sweet. Dry finish. Had to knock some carbonation out of it as it was far too high.
