Description
The Clun Brewery was founded by Matt Williamson and Jack Limond in 2007 to supply local craft beers to the White Horse in Clun, which Jack has owned since 2001. The brewery started as an upgraded homebrew, brewing 9 gallons at a time with Burco boilers as their water baths. This basic setup gave inconsistent results, and in 2010 they moved into an old garage with two 72 gallon barrels. The extra capacity helped Clun build a local reputation, and their range of beers regularly feature as guest ales in over 60 Shropshire pubs as well as The White Horse.

Cask @ Shrewsbury Real Ale Festival 2019, St Mary's Church. Pours clear gold, small white head. Light citrus nose, some pale malt. Taste seems to be a standard Clun golden ale with some pleasant citrus moments. Not bad.

500ml bottle direct from the source at the White Horse, Clun. Drunk at home. Pours clear gold, nice frothy white head. Aroma has gentle pale malt. Taste is malt-driven, some grain, distant fruity esters, but nothing too prominent. Pleasant refresher.

Handpull cask at the Kings Arms, Leicester. Deep gold and clear with a small white head. Lots of lacing. Doesn't really smell of much. Some light grain with a light metallic character and a hint of butterscotch. Resfrashing clean taste with lots of bittering hop on the long finish but again very little individual character. Pleasant enough I suppose but it's far from memorable.

Cask half-pint, hand-pulled at the 44th Telford Beer & Drinks Festival at The Crown Inn, Oakengates on 5th May 2018. Amber bodied, weak white topping. Fairly bitter in nature with the piney, resinous hops leading the way in both the aroma and taste. Liked it.

1st Oct 2017. Cask pint in The Cock Hotel, Wellington Shropshire. This years Green Hop is amber in colour with an off-white crown of bubbles. Hop forward but not overly so, piney and spruce like in both the nose and taste, light herbal twist also. Easy drinking session ale that isn't as hoppy as the name might suggest.

Cask half-pint on 4th Dec 2016: Crown Inn, Oakengates. Pale golden body, full white head. Mildly citrus in nature with grapefruit and lemon esters in the nose and flavours: balanced by some malt action. New Zealand Green Bullet and Styrian Goldings are the hops that seem to direct the flavours.
