22 oz. bottle. Purchased at The Beer Store and tap room, Philadelphia. Orange color beer with lacy head. Aroma is grapefruit, unripe Orange, mild caramel malt. Flavor has some caramel but not overwhelming sweetness. Grapefruit is the main player. Even when warm the malt is tolerable. Note, no canning date.

Bottle. This was ok for a session beer. Primarily dry malt flavor, with hops at the end. Dry malt, early. Some hops at the end. it goes down easily, even if it doesn't push the style description.

16 ounce can. Hazy medium gold with a frothy white head. Notes of melon, berry and pine in nose. Tart, spicy, bready notes. Sweet fruity notes of melon and peach balance with spicy, grassy hops. Lacks the juicy, citrus character you typically get in a NE IPA. Very drinkable.

22oz bottle at Bert's in Millersville, PA. Ooh wee that was rummy. Nowadays a lot of brewers have cut back the barrel booze on their BA impy stouts but not Newport. I think Newport always feels there is too much beer in their beers. But I sort of like the consistency and a lack of following the trend. I am pretty sure I didn't finish my 6oz pour from the bottle but I did enjoy it. Couldn't really taste much of the base Impy, which seemed a bit weaker b/c of the barrel alcohol. But I would do it again, particulary because the price was right.

I got this bottle in a trade with Wasatch. Thanks John!
Cool looking bottle but it's almost as big a pain in the ass to get to the contents as the Cellar Reserve series from Grand Teton.
I finally got to pour it and it it pours a very dark brown, almost no foam at all and no lacing. I tried reading the bottle but blue writing on a blue bottle makes it too difficult.
The smell is sweetish with a pretty big whiff of caramel malt, some chocolate and coffee and slight notes of...bourbon?
The taste has a strong flavour of coffee and toffee with some chocolate, raisins, and what I think is oak. Tastes like it was bourbon aged or something but I guess it could be just plain alcohol.
The mouthfeel *just* crosses into medium territory and the carbonation is close to be non existant. That's kind of a bummer for me. It finishes with some dark fruity semi sweetness. It's a pretty strong brew but I can't say I get that much warming after the swallow. Interesting brew. Interesting and weird. I think even a low level of carbonation would perk this baby up and make it more drinkable. Still, it *does* have some nice flavours going on....

A good dark brown with reddish highlights pour and a small and quickly disappearing head of foam. Not much lacing.
The smell has some caramel malt sweetness to it and some fruitiness that is on the sour end of the spectrum.
The taste is of caramel malt, some dark fruit like sour cherries, maybe some plum, it finishes mostly on the sour side and although I like sour beers more than most, I don't find it particularly attractive in this brew.
It's medium bodied and the carbonation is low. It certainly has some kick to it so going back to my earlier comments, it doesn't help the drinkability at all.
Don't get me wrong, this is a decent brew, it just doesn't hit my tastebuds on the majority of cylinders.

A nice amber gold pour with a 2 finger head of foam. It shrinks to a fine but solid layer and there is some lacing.
It sure does have a nice pumpkin smell, just like a fresh baked pie coming out of the oven, along with some cinnamon and nutmeg and a touch of caramel.
The taste does not disappoint. Delicious notes of pumpkin, nutmeg, cinnamon, and a little bit of caramel malt. I'm not a big fan of the style and others that I've tried...the pumpkin flavour seemed contrived but not this one. It tastes genuine to me. Very nice.
Mouthfeel is medium and the carbonation, though it looks spritzy in the glass, is at most medium as well.
Bottom line: Tasty yet smooth, drinkable,(7.3%abv, eh? well hidden) this is just a fun beer to drink. I recommend it.
