Can from bier cellar Portland. Solid dark brown with a frothy off white head. Big caramel roasty chocolate notes with a bit of earthy hop to balance. Sweet grainy maltiness with big mocha notes. Light earthy hop to counter. Medium body light carbonation. Decent stout, crushable but big on roast bitterness.

Can from Bier Cellar Portland Deep golden color with a huge frothy white head that persists forever. The citrus and earthy tropical hop notes seem to clash a little. Decent brew, but probably nothing I’d seek out again.

16 oz can. Dark brown color when held to the light, fast disappearing head. Nose has a large amount dirty pine, old coffee bean and caramel. The flavor has a good amount roast with a big amount of lingering pine. It finishes on the astringent side. Don’t get me wrong, lots of flavor for a 5% brew. Just very Happy and more like a Black IPA or CDA rather than a stout. Roast in the nose bit not found in the flavor or body. A little more roast would do wonders.

Draft at When Pigs Fly. Hazy brown in color with fast dying head. Aroma is caramel and light earthy malt. Flavor starts with the Earthy malt and caramel and ends with German yeast. Hints of banana and nuts. The mats and yeast are very authentic to Bavaria. True to the style with malt being more profound then the yeast. Body is a little thin.

Taste comprises light spice, sweet licks, vanilla custard, caramel malt, candied orange peel. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, semi drying close. So so.

GBBF Day 4. Cask. Clear gold beer, tiny pale cream colour head. Palate is light with good fine carbonation. Markedly sweet pale malts, touches of lactose and floralness. Hops are a light tangerine - lemon. Finishes semi dry with a minty pine hop kicking in. A bit on the sweet side.

Reviewed from notes.
This was poured into a tulip.
The appearance was a hazy orange with a nice glossy golden yellow color. The head was about a finger and a half of white foaminess. It died down after about a minute leaving some nice gentle lacing sticking for a little bit and then sliding into the beer.
The smell had a vast amount of grapefruit notes up front with a nice allocation of mango, lemon, and light lime to be the bittersweet part and then after a bit of warming, there’s some nice sweet caramel to balance just a bit.
The taste was fully bittersweet all around taking in both sides of the bitter to the sweet and making it slightly sticky in the aftertaste and yet leading to a slightly refreshing finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with not much of a sessionable aspect to it. The carbonation was good for the DIPA style as it was just harsh enough but still smooth enough all around.
Overall, I once put this with an open faced tuna melt with melted pepperjack on top and it was absolutely awesome. Recommend with or without food despite high ABV.
