Cask at GBBF 2013. It pours clear golden yellow with a small white head. The nose is wood, apricot, peach and a touch of sweetness. The taste is smooth, sweet apricot, peach, nectarine, wood, caramel, honey, peppery and a decent alcohol kick. Medium body and fine carbonation. Not as punchy as I hoped for and the alcohol is all too obvious.

GBBF Day 1. Light haze on this gold beer. Tidy bubbly white head. Palate is smooth and a little dry, fine carbonation. Rich tangy hops - sourish orange with a lemony finish. Light floralness. Light malt base. Comes together really well. Love the juicy fruits from the hops.

Draft @ When Pigs Fly. Pitch black color thin white head. Aroma is deep roasted malts, burnt sugar, vanilla, and funky wood. Taste is molasses, very sweet chocolate, oak, and a large amount of vanilla or vanilla beans. The only thing that hurt my option of this beer is the body (it’s a tad thin) But the flavor still is really nice. Light traces of the alcohol are noticeable Texture is lightly ashy with some char feeling. I hope I could one day brew a stout as nice as this. It’s heavy on the vanilla and chocolate but I would have NO problem drinking more of this brew! I enjoy MW as a brewery. Looking forward to trying more for these guys.

On tap at Novare Res, thanks Matt for helping me find this place. Comes to my table on the deck a dark reddish brown without much of a head before I set my nose atop it. Smells of caramel brown sugar and a hint of chocolate with a solid hit of smokey campfire. Lightly nutty flavor with darker sugars and caramel and a nice but never overpowering level of smoke. Medium body with a moderate level of carbonation and a sweet mouthfeel. Nice smokey brown ale.

Pours a crystal clear deep amber color with a huge fluffy beige head that takes forever to recede. The aroma holds a fair amount of sweet malty backbone with bready and caramel being fairly evident to my nose. Garlic green onions grapefruit pith and dankness along with a hint of ethanol round out the nose. The flavor is sweet and malty but has plenty of hop and alcohol to keep it from cloying. Green onions and garlic scape with hints of alcohol countering bread and caramel. Medium to thick body with a moderate level of carbonation and a sweet resinous just shy of syrupy mouthfeel. This is a big beer and it shows. I liked it but felt it a little sweet for my tastes.

Enjoyed from can at McKay’s Public House in Bar Harbor, ME. Appearance is a slightly dark gold with a rich white head that laces to the glass, definitely bubbly. Aroma is abundantly hopped, huge citrus notes, lightly malty, smells fantastic. Taste is phenomenal, mostly citrus with a touch of pine hops, light crisp, very easy drinking, moderate carbonation, nice mouthfeel. Great brew, happy to have had this.

Tall-boy acquired in Portland. Amber and copper appearance. Huge fluffy off-white head which faded slowly and leaving behind a lot of lacing. Smells great. Awesome pineapple and grapefruit nose. Decent pine cone undertones. Very well hopped. Taste is not too bitter. The 10% alcohol is very well hidden. Loads and loads of pine and citrus that continues over and over. It’s not as great as the top IPAs but, as a 10% imperial IPA, it’s delicious and very well done!
