Keg at CPK, London. Pours opaque brown with a fine, light beige head. Slight aged malts in the nose, lots of toffee and dark, toasty sugars. Flavor is hugely sweet, lots of caramel, sugar-coated leaves, cake, toast, toffee, pine, ripe citrus. Full bodied with fine to average carbonation. Warm finish, sticky sweet, tons of malty caramel, some dark fruits, raisins and figs, faint bitterness, grapes, candy, brown sugar. Heavy-handed stuff, really sweet, and I like it. (4.3)

On tap at Bier Temple, Amsterdam. Opaque very dark brown beer, big vibrant tan head. Lacto malt nose. Light palate, smooth and slightly soft. Mild minerals. Lots of sweetish malt with a trace of burned toffee and a sprinkling of nuts. More milky sweet rich malt leads to a smooth finish. We joined up and tasty.

On tap at Beer Temple as Old Ale. Almost black, beige head. Aroma is sweet, spicy, very sweet chocolate, laurel. Flavour is very sweet, chocolate, liquorice, spices, laurel, roasted malts. Medium to fullbodied. Somewhere between a doppelbock and baltic porter imo. A bit too sweet, but tasty.

Cask at GBBF 2011, Day 2. Sweet malt and nice hop aroma, some faint hints of booze. Big sweet flavor, some candy, toast, and caramel. Medium to full in body with soft carbonation. Milt warming finish, light resinous bitterness, some toasty malt sugars. Very respectable.
