Enjoyed at a beer tasting while stopping in at La Cave a Bulles in the great city of Paris, FR. Very happy to have tried this. Appearance is a rich pitch black with a bubbly dark tan head. Aroma of light brandy and chocolate, nice stuff. Taste is great, with a thick wine like consistency and rich chocolate notes. I unfortunately didn’t pick up a bottle to go, but really enjoyed having this stuff.

Enjoyed during a beer tasting at La Cafe a Bulles in Paris, FR, which is an awesome beer store in this city. Appearance is pitch black, slightly looks like a cola with a rich dark rim. Aroma is of chocolate and light yeast, has a great smell. Taste is kind of bitter with light dry chocolate notes, really good stuff, happy to have been able to sample this.

(Draught at Bishop’s Arms Vasagatan, Stockholm) Dark brown colour, almost black, with brief frothy beige head. Malty, roasted nose with chocolate, coffee and dark rye bread. Malty, roasted taste with notes of coffee, chocolate, black rye bread, hints of ashes and a generous roasty bitterness in the finish. Medium body, quite dry. Highly drinkable and very nice porter.

Pours copper with a fading head.Nose shows some light beechwood smoke along with very prominent spicy rye biscuit-like notes. Also some earthy, herbal hops.Smooth flavours. The smoke is faint but the rye definitely hits out as a spicy, toasty and bready note. Some of the earthy hops remain, followed by an assertive bitterness.Carbonation seems a bit full on.

Amber, clear, thin white head. Aroma of soft zesty hops, light grass, citrus. Taste of soft zesty hop, soft citrus, light pale malts, simple flavours, easy going. Palate - thinnish body, finish as main flavour, soft bitter tail.
Overall - OK - not one of their best though

Bottle at Christianssand Bryggeri. It pours an almost black body and a small, beige head. The aroma is quite intense, with molasses, roasted notes, coffee, chocolate and some faint dried fruits. Some caramel and dark sugars too. Full body, very soft carbonation, semi-dry. Lots of dark flavors, could perhaps use a tad more bitterness. Lasting roasted and sweet finish. Sure a nice one, going well with the grilled pineapple and vanilla ice cream. 130323

On tap at Monks Cafe, Wallingatan. (thanks SaintMatty) Clear dark golden with a medium white head. Aroma of grass, fruit, citrus and some malt. About the same in the taste. On the dry side and medium bitter. Nothing sensational but drinkable.

Bottle, Stirchley Wines, Birmingham. Deep dark brown looks with a thin off white head. Dark malts and hops ahoy nose-wise. Robust body. Flavour had roasted malts, citrus and piney hops aplenty. Spot on bitterness. Cracking stuff and a fine example of a great style.
