Very dark brown...lots of ruby light through.....bubbly off white head....some lacing
Aroma - roasted malts...some smoky wood...yeasts..savoury notes...dark malts...bit of coffee...bot of soy...hint of barnyard.....quite complex aroma
Taste - roasted malts...burnt crust...smoky wood chips...bit of yeast...coffee...bit earthy......savoury notes...slightly phenolic.....complex interesting flavour....lot of flavour for the abv
Palate - Medium...slighty over carbonated.....medium body. Finish of burnt toast...light wood smoke...bit earthy...but too lingering, over burnt and bitter.
Overall - This is a porter that has a considerable roasted and bitter bite...complex...but the finish is too burnt and bitter

On tap at the Magpie. Hazy dark brown beer. Little cream coloured head. Fresh tasting smooth palate, mild carbonation. The promised nuts and chocolate manifest but they are subtle. Orangey hops show up from the mid. Finishes semi dry with minerals. A little fruit underneath and a trace of coffee. Mild bitter linger. Decent beer!
