Description

Bottle. An unclear, orange-golden beer topped by a creamy, two-finger sized off-white head leaving lacings. The aroma has a slight fruit sour touch, with grass, pine cones, something perfumed and a little touch of malts in the back. It’s medium to full-bodied, with a soft carbonation. Semi-dry, with a sourish flavor and a nice bitterness. Grapefruit and pineapple, some herbal hints and a little malty sweetness in the back. Lasting finish with some sourish fruityness and a good bitterness. Not really sure about this one. I like it, but it doesn’t feel clean. Not sure if that’s intended.
After a while I start reading the label, and that explains a lot. There’s lemongrass in the beer, which probably explains what I felt like fruity sourness. And sure, after a while it’s obvious it is lemongrass. I just didn’t expect it. It’s quite nice actually, refreshing too. 141112

Shared 500 ml bottle from the brewery. Batch #059. ABV is 4.6%. Golden colour, slightly hazy. Moderate white head. Very moderate aroma of fruity American hops, not unpleasant. The flavour has very sharp bittering hops, but not much complexity besides the bitterness. Some pine needles and malty sweetness though.

50cl bottle from Meny, Oslo City. Pours very dark brown with a beige head. Aroma of dark malts with some roasty notes, chocolate, hints of licorice, spices and dried fruits. Fairly sweet, but quite balanced and with a light dryness and bitterness in the finish. Pleasant and easy to drink. Nice change from the regular very sweet and caramelly Christmas beers that most of the other shop strength beers are.

On tap at Kick. It’s a dark brown beer, almost black, and topped by a minimal sized dark beige head. The aroma is on the roasted side, with chocolate and some coffee notes. Not very complex, but nice anyway. Roasted flavor too, with a fine bitterness. Full body and a pleasant carbonation level, quite dry. Some dried fruits too. Lasting finish. A pleasant and tasteful beer, well suited for the season. 141108
