Description

Bottle. Pours black with a creamy, lightly coloured head. Aroma has sour whiffs of stable and farmyard, as well as burned malts with herbs, camphor and anise. Light medium body with soft carbonation. Flavour is tart with grain, roasted malts, kandi and some tiny notes of vanilla. Finishes off with a somewhat burned astringency.

0.5l bottle from #026. I kinda like the concept they are running with this series. It's super cloudy, almost what I would describe as murky looking in the glass this. Dirty brown with a nice big beige head that's leaving some laceworks. On the nose I get lots of savory beef and brown sauce. That's kinda original, but wierd to get in a beer. Some tones of dark chocolate malts, lots of yeast some nuts with a little bit of cardboard blended with dark berries. Interesting but definitely not an extreme nose. It has a near slick but watery mouthfeel this and it's really gentle and soft on the carbonation. Again, soft chocolate malts, chocolate wrapper with yeast, grains, a silo acidity and lots of bitter nuts. Some sweet nut cake also found here. It contains a fair amount of flavor but I'm not sure how good I'm liking it. Still, I've had much worse. 09.04.2014

0.5l bottle from #7. Quite cloudy this, and it has a deep dark orange is it amber-ish it brown-color and a nice big lasting off-white top. On the nose I get a good amount of papery yeast, ripe fruity green apples, some nice sweetness from caramel and a little bit of earthy strawberries. Quite different but not horrible at all. It has a light oily feeling in the mouth and the carbonation is big bubbled and about average. More yeasty semi dry flavors here. More of that old ripe fruity thing found in the aroma, lots of yeasty notes and some traces of minerals. Somewhat earthy on the taste as well. It tastes like it has been made in a barn somewhere in the Norwegian mountain this, and unless I'm mistaken, that's exactly what it is. Not completely my cup of beer this, buy it's not bad tasting at all. Categorized as a sour/wild? More like a standard (and a bit dull) Belgian ale IMO. 28.10.2013

0.5l bottle from #6. This is a cloudy kinda dark almost dirty orange looking one and it has a small quickly filmy and sidesticking off-white top. The aroma is kinda yeasty with lots of grains, some green banana, metallic sweetness and some hints of caramel. In the taste it completely lacks bitterness. It's really soft, almost or in fact as good as flat on the carbonation and it has a almost slimy oily mouthfeel. Quite grainy also, and that green banana is not gaining any points either. Not my kind of flavors, at all, but im sure someone will find this perfectly OK. 20.10.2013

0.5l bottle from #5. This one pours a deep dark brown body, not possible too see through it and it has a small town medium sized light bubbly and light lacing brown top. On the nose I get tones of chocolate and fruity hops. It has a nice non extreme sweetness also, almost like chocolate ice cream. It's definitely not too complex, but I have to admit that I like what I smell. It has a really soft carbonation level dangerously near too flat and it's gliding oily in the mouth. Lots and lots of sweet milky chocolate and chocolate ice cream in the taste. Vanilla tones and a decent amount of sweetness here. Roasted nuts and it's actually a quite identifiable alcohol present here. Did not expect that from a lightweighter like this. Lots of flavor in a mild brown ale. Ends light chalky. Not bad at all. 28.10.2013

0.5l bottle from #031. Quite a deep dark and brown this. Not black but not to far off either. It also has a nice medium sized fading chocolate mild colored head - only leaving minimal lacings. A bit mild nose perhaps? I get tones of chocolate and something sweet. Almost like lactose sweetness. Really faint licorice and near no roastiness. Mild but not bad in any way. Get's more present after a while in the glass. Much more roasted in the taste. And by much I mean much. It's near flat on the carbonation this - something that makes me think that this could with benefit have been stored for a while longer - and it feels light oily and gliding in the mouth. Sweet chocolate with a fair amount of butter and some dark slightly burned coffee hints before it ends slightly grainy with hints of something sweet that I cannot put words on right here and now. Well, it's most likely not something I will be purchasing again, but it's still a flavorful and not bad tasting at all sweet stout-ish thing. 04.04.2014
