Cask at Colmore, Brum. Aroma is slightly citrusy, malty. Clear copper gold. Thin foamy translucent white head. Juicy citrus has a sharpness to it. Underlying damp malts. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Soft carbonation. Relatively abrupt finish. OK at best.

Gravity cask at Pig’s Ear 2024 - Hackney. Pours black-brown with a frothy, beige topping. Medium sweet flavour with notes of swee black coffee, toasted mats, a little burnt rubber, dried berries. Medium bodied with fine carbonation; decent condition. Dry finish, some ashy burnt malts, faintly tangy dark fruits/berries, scorched earth, more black coffee. Interesting beer, doesn’t quite nail it but it has some novelty.

Cask-conditioned at the Drapers Arms, Bristol 26/10/2024. Amber in colour, with a slight, off-white, head. Digestive malts, some hedgerow fruits, leafy hops with a slightly herbal edge, leading to a moderately bitter finish. Fine.

Cask at the Pup & Duckling, Solihull. Poured a slightly hazy yellow golden colour with a lasting frothy white head. The aroma is big yeast, light hoppy citrus. The flavour is moderate sweet, light bitter, with a smooth, fresh, yeasty, lemon citrus, light woody hop bitter palate. Medium to light bodied with soft carbonation.

Hand-pulled pint at the Love & Liquor, Codsall on 15th May 2024. Slight haze to the light golden body, white crown. This single hop IPA did have the expected citrus aroma and taste from the Citra hop and was very refreshing in the afternoon sun as we sat outside to have our beers.

I think that this is one of the more convincing imitation Kolsch beers that I've had. My wife thinks that there is nothing remotely Kolsch-like about it. After a very brief discussion we agreed that she was right

Cask ale, half-pint, shared with Finn at Harp. Hazy amber body, filmy layer, upper part lacing on the glass. Hints of berry skins on the nose added by a citric note. Mixed taste of berries and citrus, a bit unbalanced. Citrus to the ending as well. Fair enough. (London, 29.09.2023).
