A pretty good porter - nothing really sets it apart from the greats, but it holds its own somewhat with them (fullers, anchor, etc.) - mild chocolate and coffee presence - a little thin, but quite enjoyable.

Some fusels, faint malt. Light amber colour. A little bit of stickiness. Like an underhopped Polish mocne. Lacks the melanoidins I seek.

Cloudy light tan. Banana and spice aroma. Dry and hoppy, seems a bit minerally, too.

Bright copper. Light aroma - only the vaguest smoke, munich malts. Lightish body, again just faint smoke underpinning a slightly toasty, caramelly vienna.

Wood, toast, raisins and a hint of coffee. Dark brown with chestnut. Thinnish body - dry in the finish also slightly sour. One of those old-time entires, a throwback of sorts.

Copper with slight haze. Aroma - flowers, earth, herbs, light hay, multigrain bread crust. Dark crystal malts jump out first, followed by curranty, herbal hoppiness and peaty, earthy malts. Woody, rustic finish.

Very dark brown. Mildly nutty aroma with raisins and toffee. Sweet, light toffee, raisin bread, demerara. Very light body, but it's authentic. I've have a few milds like this in England.

Light copper; herbal, grassy, mossy hop nose with biscuity malts. A little fizzy for the style, grainy, with a soft grassy note. The aroma is good dortmunder, but the palate comes up short.

This sucker is like golden monkey on steroids - nice clarity in appearance, slightly golden with a tinge of red or ruby, like they mixed a tripel with a dubbel - the flavor is kind of like that as well - this has all the qualities of golden monkey tripel, plus a presence of fruitiness (cherries, raisins), and subtle malts (grain, toffee) - slight yeasty presence - lingering sweetness in the finish - this is much better than the V10, and hopefully won't have the bottling problems that its big brother had.

Rerate from tap at tap-house Munich. Fairly heavy on the roast and licorice bitter lemon fruitiness, dry licorice root notes, my tastes might have changed, by now I don’t find it to be harmonic And in balance. It is fine on the palate, but the super dry bitter aftertaste is grating. If you have to think about whether you want to take another sip it is not a good beer. Old rating: 9 5 9 3 17 Powerfull perfumed and herbal hop aroma together with toffee and a sour coffee and strawberry note. Black, opaque and with a creamy brown head. Fruity tastenotes together with burned coffee and chocolate. The burned aspect lingers on and a delicate whiff of hops comes through now and then. Medium body and creamy, fizzy mouthfeel which goes very well with the overall taste. Great stout, quite different from the others I have tasted so far though. The burned taste is a bit too prominent, but I imagine this is smoothed out by some extra lagering.
