… and England have failed to qualify for the World Cup, 2 Unlimited are Top of the Pops with their dance smash No Limit, Shane Warne has bowled the ‘Ball of the Century’ and Rooster’s Brewing Co. has just hatched - forever changing the shape of beer in the UK. Originators and innovators of quality, new world pale ales, with an emphasis on flavour and aroma, our beers start to stand out and turn heads amongst a sea of brown beer, with Yankee (our flagship pale ale) leading the way.

Cask at the Harp, Covent Garden on 4th June 2025. Hazy yellowy amber with shallow foam and scant lacing. Fruity, grapey aroma. An interesting taste in-mouth, of a wine like Pic Poul in a blend of fruits, grasses and nuttiness. A nutty malt finish with citrus to keep it company. Very smooth mouthfeel, and a fair amount of body.

I like cucumber, so this is a decent light pale. Thomas Henry was also very funny.

Can. Clear golden body with a thin white head. Steady carbonation. Light lacing. Aroma of apple, kiwi fruit and honeyed malt. Flavour of marmalade, pine and lemon sponge. Medium body with an oily texture. Soft fizz. This is not as good as I remember it being ten years ago - it’s too sweet and flabby.

(Cask at Akkurat, Stockholm, 4 April 2025) Golden colour with foamy, white head. Fruity, hoppy nose with citrus, pineapple, passionfruit and grass. Fruity, hoppy taste with notes of citrus, tropical fruit, passionfruit, wheat crackers and a balanced floral/resiny bitterness. Medium body, quite dry. Refreshing and hoppy. Nice one.
