Description
We started brewing in Burton-Upon-Trent in 1834. Then in 1898 we got itchy feet. So we moved down the road to the Albion brewery. We still like it so we’ve not moved again since.
We came to Burton for the water. Well, for the rocks the town was built on to be precise. The water trickles down through a thick layer of gypsum before we bring it back up again through our well. That’s what gives our beers the depth of flavour, character and crisp refreshing bitterness that you won’t find anywhere else in the world.

This beer took me back to my youth when I used to drink large quantities of fairly low alcohol English milds and bitters. Bottle at home.

Very slightly hazy gold with a bubbly white head and a soft citrus hop aroma. Cold and fizzy, some soft cereal malt, citrus hops and a dry bitter finish.

In my opinion, it is a basical stout, nothing great, but it is drinkable, a bit like a guiness, the lager of the stout, lack of aroma, october 2017, Sevilla, Cerro del Aguila, purchased at the corte inglés, Nervion.

Quite confusing this hobgoblin ruby is for a search in the database! I bet lots of hob ruby raters get it in the wrong place. My $3 can from chalet premier is brewed by carlsburg marston, so I guess this is the correct place. Its a pounder can with an ABV of 4.5%. Pour is brown and fairly clear. Truly a brown colored ale! Nice off white head fades slowly. Sweet malty nose, somewhat appetizing. Taste is ale like, nothing like a dark lager fer sher. However, any rude ale attributes are certainly suppressed in this, its quite well behaved. Has a smidgen of bitterness and its nicely behaved. Remains calm cool and collective thru the middle. Near the finish, the bitter aspect builds a little. Even so, I'm finding this ruby beer to be very acceptable. Its hard to not compare this to the hobgob ruby ESB I tried from wychwood 18 years ago hehehehh. That one was quite good! I'm gonna have to try that one again, it looks like it tasted pretty darn good. This one? Has a way to go if it wants to be as good as the locals; East End Fat Gary's nut brown, Brew Keepers Wild and Wonderful or Coal Tippel Backfill. Probably more in line with Cervecería Cucapá Obscura, Leinenkugel Fireside and Tröegs Rugged Trail.

During this day of storm, I mean two days ago, this one was perfect, a classical brown ale, malty, bready, toffee, a bit watery, hop, 06.06.18, at Geisser's flat, Vigie.

Bottle. Amber with a slight copper tint color, yellowish head. Aroma: British hops, floral, a little grassy, fruity esters, caramel, biscuit malt. Taste: dense, malty, caramel, nutty, a little jam, earthy bitterness on the finish, not bad.
