A dark ruby colour with a caramel head which rapidly disappeared leaving an unattractive pint. Chocolate malt aroma; body is thin but smooth, again dominated by the chocolate malt, leaving a dry coffee aftertaste. Not outstanding.

[Cask at Charlie’s Bar, Copenhagen] A deep red beer with an OK orange head. The aroma is sweet and very malty, but also with notes of berries. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of caramel and berries, leading to a dry end. The body is a bit thin.

24-Nov-2006 - 50cl bottle of Marston’s Firestoker.Attractive amber colour, almost no head, and a strong vanilla aroma; extremely bitter and a shock in the mouth. Like shoestring (previous rater) I nearly poured it away, but persevered and found it got better. (5/3/4/2/10=2.4)
23-Nov-2014 - 50cl bottle of Waitrose Sunset Amber Ale. so 8 yeasr have passed, and either this beer has mellowed, or I have. Still amber with litlle head; ans some vanilla taste; but also a smooth nutty caramel body with a light bitterness. (6/4/6/3/12=3.1)

Bottle picked up at Morrisons, Bridport, Dorset, 17-11-06. Golden in colour, some citrsuy notes and hoppiness, but like England promised much but delivered very little.

Bottle: brilliant gold colour with a halo of a white head; bready aroma; taste is well-balanced with a noticeable hoppiness that isn’t overpowering. Prickly in the mouth, but rather watery to finish.

Bottle: pours a clear golden brown colour with a white head; bready, yeasty aroma; citus acidic taste becoming more acidic and bitter with some evidence of the alcohol. Very full, and slightly oily, in the mouth. A well balanced IPA.

Bottle, Co-op Headington, Oxford, 09-11-06. Golden in colour with a white head. Aroma was rather hoppy touch of sweetness, good tasty citric and hoppy beer that was really pleasant.

Full pint on cask. Unclear, dark golden. Low level of white foam. Spicy aroma. Malty foundation in a rather poor taste. Some fruity notes. Lightly crisply bitter ending. Watery (The Golden Lion Wetherspoons, Ipswich 21.09.2006)

(Bottle 50 cl) Pours a clear, dark, reddish brown with a light brown head. Aroma of sweetish, roasted malt and caramel. Fairly full and solid body with plenty of roasted malt and caramel notes. Not much bitterness to be detected. Not exactly refined but a fine winter warmer. 071006

Bottle, my third and final Marstons of the evening was the Oyster Stout, which I’ve had plenty of times before but never got around to rating. Almost black in colour with a creamy head, not a great deal of aroma aside maybe from a touch of roastedness this also showed up in the taste which whilst pleasant enough was a little bit drab and this beer came across as a tad thin for my liking, not particularly bitter, Oysters forgot to show up and overall just an ok stout.
