Bottle shared at our temporary home in Kyoto thanks to TimE. Dark brown with a small light tan head. Aroma of rich malt, butterscotch, boozy notes, overripe dark fruits and toffee. Flavour is light heavy sweet and bitter. Full bodied with soft carbonation.

Bottle from the brewery. This is a new series, replacing previous incarnations of these citrus lagers. It seems that recipes and raw materials have changed, so they get a new entry. Pale golden, cloudy. Looks like mikan juice. Lot lacy head. Aroma is natsumikan with a bit of bready malt. Flavor is tart natsumikan juice, a bit of zest and pith, and underlying that is a soft, biscuity pilsner malt. The lager character is not as pronounced as it was in previous versions, probably because they are using less malt now. Still nice. Light sweetness to go with the tart citrus. Very crisp and refreshing. Very nice I not as beery as past examples.

Tap @ Furusatomatsuri (18.01.2019). Darker golden pour, super clean and some white foam on the top. Light malts and light fruits in the nose. Taste has a bit of citrus and some light bitterish sweetness. Light-bodied with low-medium bitterness. Clean and fruity. I guess Hideji does not brew too many ales but this one is not bad.

Tap @ Furusatomatsuri (18.01.2019). Pours creamy orange, a bit cloudy with some white foam on the top. Malty and citric nose, lime and yep, perhaps some more bitter version of mikan as well. Mikan peels that aren't sweet. tastes citrusy, refreshing and actually quite balanced, mikan level if you say so. Finish has some mild citric fruity linger, pleasant.

Tap @ Furusatomatsuri (18.01.2019). I am assuming that this is the same beer, the one I had was labelled Kyushu Craft Yuzu. Light yellow straw pour, white foam on top. Clear. Nose is fresh and citric yuzu coming out well. Feels more like yuzu chu-hi or just yuzu tea. Taste has also light sweetish yuzu coming out quite strong and fragrant. low bitterness but some yuzu peels citric thing is still lingering around in the finish a bit. Soft and pillowy overall feel. Light and smashable, yuzu-forward. 7.3.7.4 15

Tap @ Furusatomatsuri (18.01.2019). Pours clean and clear, some white foam there but not much. Nose is malty, citric and fresh. Taste is also quite citric, especially for a lager. Pleasant light citric tingle, superb balance and light sweetness coming out in the taste as well. Clean, brisk and ultimately smashable.

Tap at Takumiya. Rich malt nose, caramel, light soy, raisin, peaches, apples. Rich and fruit with a nice caramel fudge maltiness. A bit light, soft, light carbonation works well. Barely a doppel at 7% but very nice.

dark golden color. a touch heavier than their normal pils. Fairly grassy. Modest aggressive bitterness. Pretty good.

This beer is a bit odd, as I can't find any traces of it on the internet. I really don't know the background behind this, but I had it at the beer restaurant in Hikarie shopping complex in Shibuya and took a picture of the menu just to make sure all the info was correct. Anyways on the to review. Beautiful chestnut amber color. Offwhite frothy Head. Sweet bready, malty nose with some caramel and chocolate notes. Full body, fairly sweet with caramel, cherries, bread and chocolate character. Nice the but the depth isn’t mind blowing and none of the characteristics of the beer jump out massively. Well made though.
