Description
Our beer is brewed across two sites. The first is our original brewery at the Old Flax Store, this is where we began our journey in 2014, and is home to our LDS tap room. We expanded into our second much larger brewery, Sydenham Road, in April 2017. Between both sites we can brew up to 18 beers at a time.
The Old Flax Store is a Grade II listed building located in Holbeck, the spiritual heart of the industrial revolution. In 2014 we turned this derelict mill into a brewery, tap room and events space. This building is home to our first brewery, which takes up the ground floor of the building. Our second brewing site is also located in Holbeck, half a mile away at Sydenham Road, where 8 x 100HL conical FVs enable our total capacity at this site to reach 24,000HL.

330ml bottle from Beer Huis, Ossett - Thick black body, thick tan head initially, fading to a thin lacing film. Nose is dark chocolate, liquorice, smoke, boozy roasted malts amongst others. Taste is a strong burnt nutty mouthful, smoky, bitter with a lovely robust mouthfeel. Excellent effort.

Bottle @ Chriso May 14 tasting. Pours hazy amber with sweet fruity aroma. Has potential but taste falls a bit flat and the earthy sweet flavours donโt quite make it through. Disappointing.

Bottle from Hop Hideout, Sheffield. Clear, dark brown. Finest halo of tan head. Dark fruit. Light smoke. Hint of liquorice. Taste is sweet, light smokiness. Smooth palate with light carbonation. Finish is dry and light fruitiness. Not enough smoke character, but very easy drinking. Liked it.

Opaque black - brown beer. Patchy pale tan head. Smooth palate with fine minerally carbonation. Smooth mild dark malt, dry. No roast or bitterness. Very mild coffee and mellow smooth smoke. Touch of estery sweetness underneath. Smooth dry finish. Itโs okay but was hoping for more from these good brewers.

Bottle from Hop Hideout, Sheffield. Hazy, copper colour. No head. Barley sugar. Red fruit. Soft toffee. A hint of minty, herbiness. Taste is cough syrup sweet. Herbal dryness. Lots of taste. And then I had a glass with some Stichelton cheese. At which point the beer came alive. A bit clunky on its own. A blinder with the right snap.
