A deep dark stout with a thin lacing mocha head. In aroma, sweet chocolate malt with light butterscotch, ok. In mouth, a nice chocolate malt with light grassy hops, light treacle, faint coffee, some licorice, very nice. Bottle at Eleven Bistro, Melaka.

It was a long day walking around kuala Lampur and all i was looking forward to was any sort of refreshing beer. Instead I got this... tasteless with a slight tinny kind of aftertaste, generally unpleasant

Can. A reddish black beer topped by a small, creamy, tan head. The aroma has caramel, prunes and some roasted scents. It’s smooth and slightly warming in the mouth, with roasted malts, caramel and prunes. Roasted bitter finish. Overall, a nice one, although the aroma is a bit boring. When drinking from a can that doesn’t matter much, but in a glass it does. 110107

Can. It doesn’t look half bad and that’s the best of this clear, almost golden beer with a small white head. The aroma starts off with the smell of old wallpaper being removed, then fruits and grains enters. The flavor is fruity and a bit papery with some malty sweetness. Lacking big time on bitterness all the way. Medium to thin on the palate. Ok, it’s drinkable, I’ll admit that, and I guess it goes down easier on a hot Malaysian day than on a chilly Norwegian summer evening, but it’s still a poor beer. 100827

320 ml can. Had quite a few of this during my Malaysia holiday, one of the few decent beers widely available among dozens of bland, boring pale lagers. Looks like any other Guinness, dark brown, close to black with a fine, stable brown head. Aroma is roasted malt and dry fruit. Flavor is fine roasted malt, dry fruit, coffee and some bitterness. Nothing really amazing, but a fine, balanced and smooth stout. Probably quite similar to the European version, but it feels delicious every time in lagerland.
