Draught @ Hummel, Merkendorf. Nice surprise to find this. We went for the Kellerbier from B.A. Which wasnt in prime condition. Neither was this. Bubblegum, estery touch with a note of pear. Handsome Golden yellow with a small White head. Easy to see the potential in this but it wasnt in top shape.

0.5 l bottle from 'Meibier.de', best before May 2023. Clear, ruby with a thin, frothy, almost stable, beige head. Sweetish-malty, fairly smoky, slightly fruity aroma of smoked ham, caramel, raisins and prunes. Quite sweet, malty, moderately bitter, rather smoky and slightly fruity taste of caramel, lots of smoked ham, raisins, dark honey, toasted nuts and prunes, followed by a medium long, gently bitter finish. Medium to full body, very smooth and slightly oily mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Great Rauchdoppelbock, quite intense, just a tad less moreish than Schlenkerla's Eiche Doppelbock.

500 ml bottle. Unclear orange golden with a fluffy head. Classic Märzen aromas such as roasted malt, orange zest, grassy hops, biscuits, brioche, basement notes, light metal, stone fruit. Dry bitterness, malty grainy sweetness. Medium bodied, oily texture, soft carbonated, dry grainy malty zesty finish. Good Märzen!

Bottle courtesy of Gregor, Hopdog, Mūnchen, had this at home Monday 20th March 2023 about to cook Meatballs with Orzo and Feta and listen to Steve Lamaq on 6 Music. Pours darker than expected, it’s verging on dark brown, Murky with a large off white frothy head. A little bubblegum and a sweet edge, a little tangy with light banana touches. Good.

Bottle. Gold, slightly hazy. Moldy apple. Taste is sweet, even sticky, bit flat. Probably better on tap.

A nice dark golden with orange hints, transparent. Medium sized head, receding relatively quick, not much lacing. A quite weak but clean aroma with hints of hay/cereal, slight honey, a hint of soapiness and apple-like fruitiness: all quite subdued. Taste is a little brighter but still pretty mild: a slightly warming sweet mouth with the lightest cereal/bready base, light honey, hints of grassiness, light fruity hints (apple); a balanced finish with grassiness showing up a bit more, slight earthiness and a light fruity reminiscence/aftertaste. Surprisingly light feeling for the abv in terms of taste and also in terms of mouthfeel, with a medium or light-to-medium body and very delicate carbonation, resulting in an easygoing smooth mouthfeel. Now, i perfectly understand and appreciate that a german lager doesn't have to boost a punch of flavour; i like my lager clean and delicate. But i didn't expect a bock to feel so mild. It's well made, but maybe a bit too german.

4/II/23 - 50cl bottle @ Nieuwjaarsreceptie Gentse Biervereniging, BB: 23/IV/23 (2023-129) Thanks to Daniella & Leslie for sharing the bottle!

Clear orange beer, small creamy and slightly irregular white head, unstable, falls down quickly, non adhesive. Aroma: yeasty touch up front, quite some banana notes, a bit fruity, very malty, lots of diacetyl, very buttery. MF: soft carbon, medium to light body. Taste: very malty, grains, a little bitter, diacetyl, gentle bitterness, meh. Aftertaste: malty, grains, hay, cow fodder, more diacetyl coming through, not a fan of this one.
