Bottle from Great Grog. Clear golden/amber body with a few flecks beneath an off-white head. Low carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of brown bread and caramel. Flavour of toffee and copper penny. Medium body with a slick texture. Soft fizz. It’s a bit gnarly but the alcohol is well hidden.

From the barrel at the brehwouse, Bamberg. No aroma. Classic gold look. No bubbles. Milky taste. Easy ending.

Bottle from Raynville Superstore. It pours clear brown with a frothy white head. The aroma is toasted nut, toffee/caramel, brown bread, dried fruits, raisin, sultana, toasted fruit cake and earth. The taste is fairly crispy and dry upfront, decent bitterness which lingers, nutty, woody, leafy hops, cocoa, brown bread, coffee beans and ryvita with a dry, toasty finish. Average body and moderate carbonation. Drinks well. Good dunkel.

Bottle. Xmas gift of the missus. Mostly clear chestnut brown. Off white untidy head stays the course admirably. Some granary bread crust. Hint of vine fruit. Some slight metallic notes. Taste is pretty sweet in a leafy herb kind of way first with a light nutty bitterness. Drinks easy at the 6%. Nutty finish with a bit more of the metallic thing. Not bad but probably couldn’t fancy a second.

Bottle online from Raynville Superstore. Pours a clear brown with a bronze hue and a medium sized soapy looking off white head. Aromas of dark fruits, caramel and toasty brown bread. Taste is fairly sweet with more caramel, some toffee, dry dark fruits, brown bread and some brown sugar. Medium body with low carbonation. Not bad but a little bit too sweet for me personally.
