Boulder Sourfest ’10 - this was one of the first beers I ran to try, because I was excited to try something from this brewer - sadly, it was a huge disappointment - tasted like bile, rotten fruit, fruit pits, mold, blue cheese funk, some damp oak - couldn’t really detect any wine character - hmmm...

Cheers to Markwise for bringing another Jackie-O growler. pours dark brown, off-white head. Aroma chocolate malts, raspberry tartness and vanilla beans. Flavor, a mix between the mild tartness of raspberries and mild vanilla sweetness. Palate is a mix of the chocolate flavors, grainy mouthfeel and roast coupled with the perfect blend of the vanilla beans and mild tartness of the berries make for a rather unique experience. Interesting beer, this brewery has the talent of bringing out phenomenal beers. When you think you had tried everything, Jackie-Os just keeps brewing something unique.

Bottle 50/156 thanks to a trade with St.Fun. Pours with a brown body and a minimal head, but the body stains the glass. Aroma of cabernet wine, oak, spiciness, fudge/chocolate, earthy, light sourness, nutshells and vanilla. Taste is sour, wet wood, a bit thin, vanilla, raspberry and cinnamon. Thin body, yet a creamy mouthfeel. Tannic.

Another great one thanks to markwise. Pours clear mahogany with copper edges and brief tan head. The aroma is sweet rich molasses, black strap molasses, chocolate, coffee, burnt malts and a touch of caramel. The taste is a bit thin but it’s also rich with molasses, coffee, caramel, burnt malts and some malt roastiness. This is very nice and ends with the addition of a touch of dry roastiness.
