Established in 2005, Jackie O’s Brewery has evolved over the years to include an experimental brewpub, Public House restaurant, Production Brewery & Taproom, Bake Shop and the Barrel Ridge Farm – all of which are located in Athens, Ohio / Southeastern, Ohio. Specializing in brewing techniques that revive traditional methods, we also incorporate contemporary elements and influences. We strive to brew one of the most diverse beer portfolios in the country, with a detailed and unique focus on barrel & wood aged beers, wild ales, and blending.

Cloudy mahogany with a medium beige head. Sweet aroma with roasted malt, chocolate and coffee and vanilla. Sweet flavour with roasted malt, cinnamon, coconot, caramel, coffee, almonds, vanilla and coffee. Finished sweet.

Sample at Jackie O’s as part of Ohio Brew Week. This beer pours a dark brown color with a thin khaki head that recedes quickly. Spotty lacing on the glass. Somewhat boozy aroma with sweet chocolate and malt notes. Full-bodied and smooth with flavors of milk chocolate, vanilla, bourbon and malt. The finish is sweet and malty with a chocolate aftertaste and light alcohol burn. Good beer overall.

Sample at Jackie O’s as part of Ohio Brew Week. This brew pours a flat dark brown color with a medium thin light tan head that recedes quickly to an outer ring. Spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma of smoked malt and grain. Rich and smooth body with flavors of mild coffee, oak, smoky malt and chocolate. The finish is subtly smoked with a grain and dark malt aftertaste. Solid beer overall, although I have not had the regular version the barrel aging is really understated in this beer.

Sample at Jackie O’s as part of Ohio Brew Week. This brew is a murky ruddy brown color with a thin light beige head that dissipates quickly. Spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma of oak and berries plus atouch of vanilla. Rich and velvety mouthfeel with flavors of dark malt, bourbon, vanilla and raspberry. Some light yeast notes as well. The finish is oaky and boozy with a dark berry aftertaste. Good beer all around.

Sample at Jackie O’s as part of Ohio Brew Week (plus a growler for home). This beer pours a dark brownish-black color with a medium light beige head that recedes steadily. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of smoked malt and maple. Medium body with flavors of roasted malt and chocolate. The bacon element is subtle enough that is imbues more of a smoke than a meat character. The finish is smokey with a sweet maple aftertaste. Very good breakfast-type Stout overall.

Sample at Jackie O’s as part of Ohio Brew Week. The beer pours a dark mahogany-brown color with a thin beige head that dissipates to an outer ring. Thin top ring of lace with spots underneath. Aroma of dark fruit, chocolate and vanilla. Rich and smooth body with flavors of dark chocolate, bourbon, vanilla and understated raspberry. The finish is oaky vanilla with a vanilla aftertaste. Solid all around.

Sample at Jackie O’s as part of Ohio Brew Week. This brew is a clear reddish-amber color with a medium off-white head that recedes steadily. Thin rings of lacing. Caramel malt aroma with some dark fruity notes. Medium body with a strong malt base and flavors of caramel, dark fruit and chocolate. The finish is malty with a slight booze and fig character and a sweet finish. Above average overall.

Smoked malt aroma with some caramel and hop notes. Rich and smooth body with a nice subtle smoky character over an earthy malt base. Some hops and caramel notes in the background as well. The finish is smoky and peaty with a lingering malt aftertaste. Solid beer all around.

Sample at Jackie O’s as part of Ohio Brew Week (plus a growler for home). The beer pours black with a medium tan head that diminishes slowly to a film. Large patches of lacing on the glass. Roasted coffee aroma as well as malt and chocolate. Medium body with a potent coffee flavor plus flavors of roasted malt, caramel chocolate and hops. The finish is roasty with a lingering hops aftertaste. Enjoyable brew.

Sample at Jackie O’s as part of Ohio Brew Week. The beer is a slightly hazy dark gold color with a medium foamy off-white head and large bubbles that recedes steadily. Sticky rings of lacing on the glass. The aroma is mildly hoppy with some malty and fruity notes. The finish is hoppy with a lingering mild bitterness left over. Decent Pale overall.
