Sampled on tap at Boundary Bay Brewpub, pours dark amber. Aroma of caramel malts, X-mas spices (nutmeg, cinnamon, etc.) and vanilla. Flavour of nutmeg, cinnamon, vanilla and light fruits. A slightly thin palate. Decent.

On tap at Brouwer's Cafe, pours black with a tan head. A little unusual aroma of banana (?!), roasted malt, some smoke, a little wood and brandy. Flavour reveals this same banana, along with oatmeal, roasted malt and a little peat. Odd, but most excellent. Not very similar to the original Imperial Oatmeal Stout that Boundary Bay does.

Bomber courtesy of bvc pours clear sparkling deep copper with thin off white head. The aroma has firm muted nearly moldy grapefruit, mild yet assertive citrus hops, pine, a mild level of spicy hops and a touch of floral. The taste has loads of various hops with smooth spicy hops, pine, floral, grapefruit and tangelo. Beneath all those hops is a thin layer of caramel and sweet maltiness. Great balance, great smoothness and a great American Style Barleywine. Thanks Boundary Bay!

22 oz. bottle, pours dark reddish brown with a tiny beige head. Aroma of toffee / treacle, brown sugar, and lots of sweetness. Flavour is massive, full-bodied dark caramel / toffee, brown sugar, and raisins, with a big alcohol kick. A most excellent barley wine.

Entirely decent IPA. Solid pine/citrus/floral hop aroma, though a bit middle of the road. Decently dry, not too bitter in the finish. Drinkable and good. Relatively smooth feel. Some light touches of caramel malt. This isn’t a great IPA but entirely satisfactory as a regular rotation beer.

Bomber from Malt & Vine. Pours hazy amber with a thin smear for head. Slightly dusty floral aroma. Med body with mild but prickly carbonation. Flavor is light roast malt with just a tinge of floral/spice/citrus hop. Almost more of an amber than an ESB. Where have all the hop flowers gone? Finishes just lightly bitter.
